Have Packages Manager try to update installed themes
« on: January 28, 2006, 11:25:44 AM »
I recently converted from phpBB and I must say that it was a great move for me in almost all respects.

There are only one or two phpBB features that I miss and one is the EasyMOD feature where if you have additional themes installed and then try to add another MOD, the installer will at least try to update the relevant files for those additional themes.

There is of course no guarantee that the installer will be successful for all MODs but it could then inform you as to which file it had a problem with. In most cases, I found that EasyMOD had no problem updating additional themes even on a heavily modded forum.

minstrel, this is something planned for the *next* SMF release (i.e. after 1.1)
I'm only a half geek really...

Excellent! That will be a real timesaver for some forums.

Congratulations on what the development team has done to date with SMF. I am frankly amazed at how good it is, especially for a version 1 release (I just upgraded to version 1.06).
