Why do users see "Moderate" on menu bar?

I'm sure this is a setting I've blown, but I've blown it on both of my SMF Forums and never noticed it until today.

I've looked all through the "regular user" permissions checklist and don't see anything - all the "Moderate" stuff is unchecked.

Thanks for looking!

Remember, permissions are inclusive...  Which means that any membergroup might give it to them...  Like maybe a misset post count group?

That's fine, and I've looked and looked and looked, but what's the setting called that makes it display? It's not anything I can find or search in any help?

And it's on two forums, so apparently it's set by default and I need to uncheck it - not something I would have set on purpose or made the same mistake on two forums.

No, I can guarantee that the permission is NOT set by default.

So, either you did set a permission, or your theme or a mod has screwed something up.

West is your forum URL?
Smf version?
Mods installed?
Theme in use?

Well it says don't PM you and I don't want to post my forums here.

I checked all the post count permissions and they were all "inherit from regular user"

Every single checkmark under "Moderate" is unchecked.

I keep looking but I just don't know what else to look at any more. After a while I'm just going around in circles.

^^^ 'Reports' will show what's going on. Check 'moderate' in Board Permissions & Group Permissions. See attachment.
If needed, enable Report Generation in core features.

That found it! Thanks so much!

The key was the "staff" report".

My low level test user was assigned as a board moderator on long-forgotten deactivated test boards on both forums.

So normal users don't see it, but board moderators see it no matter where they are.

Thanks!
