IPB 3.4.9 to smf 2.0.11

Hi all,
I am sure there an answer in here somewhere but totally new to SMF and it looks pretty good, (i used it many years ago put cant remember how to use it )

I have been using IPB for a fair few years and had enough and want a change but how can I transfer my IPB board and member
over to SMF?
Assuming I would need to upgrade to the latest smf version?
any help would be appreciated
