Hello SMF Community :)

I run a forum with about 80 members and one of the newer members came to me saying they were having to verify to post.  No one else has to, and I've checked over the settings of his account and am not finding anything different from anyone else.

This is what he shared with me:

At the bottom where I type I get this:

Verification:
Type the letters shown in the picture
Listen to the letters / Request another image

Type the letters shown in the picture:
What day in December is Christmas? (2 digit answer):

Save a copy in my outbox

shortcuts: hit shift+alt+s to submit/post or shift+alt+p to preview

This time the letters requested are AAFETC and of course Christmas day is 25

Anyone have an idea what's causing this or how to prevent it?

Check "Post count under which users must pass verification to make a post" in your admin settings and see what number you have that set to.

This can be found by going to Admin »Configuration » Security and Moderation » Anti-Spam

Also, what version of SMF are you actually using?

2.0.11

i'm having a few more members with the issue now.  the weirdest thing is i had made a member for The Banker and the first dozen posts it didn't ask for verification and NOW all of a sudden, it IS asking for it.

but, yes, i see that it was actually set to "5" for posts to be verified.  just that it wasn't being applied consistently.  hopefully that will clear up the issue.

thank you!!
