Maybe time for reCaptcha.

That's been broken for years, so I wouldn't advise using it as a new system, unless there is no other/better alternative.

Why not questions, which even has a core product upgrade path?

if we were to implement a mod, it would be the questions mod, which, as Arantor notes, is a core feature in 2.1

Please do not PM me for support.

Agreed.  This was a huge annoyance when I first started on these forums.  Nearly made me give up.  God knows how many people have signed up, tried to post and given up.

I even backported 2.1's code to 2.0 specifically for this purpose. Although changes in 2.1 now mean the upgrade might not work as intended, it certainly worked 100% as expected when I wrote it now almost two and a half years ago.

You guys had a solution for this, following every recommendation you yourselves have been giving for years, and even when people went out of their way to make this possible to implement, it wasn't adopted because adding a mod is apparently too difficult. I see nothing has changed since I left the team, where everything is discussed to death and nothing ever gets done.

Can someone bump up my posts so I can upload an avatar?

Irisado

We don't increase post counts just to facilitate the uploading of an avatar.  Once you have made ten legitimate posts (i.e. not spam replies or topics) you will be able to upload your own :).

Also, not really the best place to ask it though...

Really?  from another topic in this board seems it is done.

Hello frkweb, sorry for the inconveniences. I have bumped your post count a bit to bypass the captcha on posting.

Besides for one being about posting and one being about an avatar there is precedent in this board that this practice has been done many times before for various reasons.  It is a practice that has been done since min post count was initiated.

Kindred

and yet, as stated - we are not going to do it.

Irisado, as you know, stated that:

I merely stated that there is a precedent that it has been done.  No one until now has stated that it will not be done.  I would also appreciate if you would kindly lose the attitude, I have done nothing wrong! I am also more than happy if you wish to continue this is PM with you Kindred, but my point has been made.

Kindred

Brian,  there is no precedent for avatars or other post-controlled access. Only for issues with the captcha, as you already acknowledged...  they are two completely different requests - so Irisado was correct in the first place. :P

There is a precedent, you and I both know that there is, we have both done such action previously.  I may be a natural blonde but I am not as dumb as I was :P  Also my name is correctly spelt on my display name, how can you get it wrong, Will? :P
