Howdy <- but I already said that!  :)

I've been in and out of the SMF game for years- going all the way back to somewhere around 2006ish... Just to return, and because it has about the cleanest code of all of the options out there, even 'paid' platforms (don't ask- I'm back, should say enough).

so- back in it- after posting to the wrong section.... thanks mod for moving!

it is a college football community where i will inherit a sizable database from a joint that went bankrupt- yay me?  the community is made up of folks form all walks of life who have college football fandom in common.  the forum has underwent the knife, and i managed to squeeze some serious alterations from the basis of the belicita theme (whom the authors of i appreciate greatly!!!)

If possible, can I get a review of my recently launched site from you developers?  site: www.cfb51.com

the limitation i have found, if any, with SMF is the presentation side.... that can be remedied with effort.  I hope to have succeeded, and would appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you in advance!  And, since I'm back into this pseudo 'full time', i'll be happy to assist in anything that i can speak to authoritatively, which is hardly anything unless you folks like moonshine... sometimes, it's been my observation someone unbound by structured practices can see things those steeped in details miss.

Topic title updated to comply with board rules - Iris.

thanks to the folks over at smfhacks and one particular product they sell, my page went into the black tonight!!!  .... and the season is still six months away.

I'm hoping SMF can handle a LOT of traffic.  I'm inheriting a site that's operating on a debtors server right now and will go byebye in late summer.  90k+ members will be heading my way... and i get the database.... which means i need to stomp over to the support section and learn how to import tables containing threads and posts....

Arantor

You don't just want the topics and posts, get the entire database.

I can get the entire db, but it is a webwiz asp system and a PITA to work with..... and all i really want is the history of threads that have lived for more than two decades- there will be all kinds of issues converting, and i've yet to roll up my sleeves and see about pulling the data into the SMF db...

it may be (correction, it IS) something I'd be willing to pay someone to do.

drewactual

I would really appreciate some feedback from folks who know what they're looking at... I've poured several buckets of hours in on this in attempt to integrate WP as a publisher and SMF as the backbone of the site...

I'd love to hear your opinions!

drewactual

I made it mobile friendly, now...
next up is putting it behind the SSL... that's gonna be fun (not)...

WOuld really really appreciate a review from y'all experts!!!

Am i the only person can't see the footer ?

Steve

Nope. Checked with two browsers.

@ drewactual - where's the footer/copyrights/etc.?

#8
it should be in the right column bottom.  it's always been there, however i moved it to the right column bottom when i removed a /div by accident.   i kinda like it there- but if there is some sort of violation of license by having it there instead of across the bottom it's certainly not an issue to move back there.  it's literally adding the /div back to break it out of that column

Steve

Interesting. Shows for me today in Chrome but not Firefox. Re-approved your topic since I have no idea if there is any issue with the copyright being where you have it. I guess it depends on the team's definition of 'altering the copyright'. :)

Altering the position ought not to be an issue.  I can confirm, however, that it is not showing up when using Firefox to view your forum.

Really? Shows up fine for me in Firefox. It's in the sidebar.

Glad my products are helping make your site profitable

I did notice that you running and older PHP version 5.5.38 might want to look into updating it. This will help your site scale to more visitors.

That sidebar does not appear at all when I view the site using Firefox.  Maybe it's being blocked by adblocker software that I'm using.

That makes sense, it's inside a div with the id 'adsense'.

bingo....

i couldn't figure out what you folks were talking about...

i added the /div and dressed the footer a bit, and it is back across the bottom.   it was in a div named (and containing) ad's.  I couldn't see it using firefox on a PC at all.  the ad blocker took the entire column out...

thanks to you folks i fixed it... otherwise i never would have thought such a thing could have happened.  MANY THANKS!!!!

many thanks Sir!!!

I'm hoping to sell some ad space to local folks- and the manner I've used it so far allows me to target specific regions with ad's that mean something to them... for instance:  fans of UCLA and who use that board can have UCLA specific items visible, and the same for, say, Boston College fans... it requires some legwork to set up but it works as advertised and for that i am forever grateful.

the only thing i can request if i was to ask for something is adding a radio button to the 'appear in board' page that allows you to select or deselect them all at once so i don't have to go through and de-select the boards i don't want them in.

otherwise- thank you very much.

it's not profitable yet........ but i should inherit that 90K+ memberlist at the end of the month.

drewactual

I finally got the theme fully mobile ready.  there are some places that needed work i hadn't seen were impacted by the prior mobile specific alterations.

Just giving some constructive criticism, Forum is a bit too crowded, too much content on one screen. Besides that good job  ;)

That's actually more in the vein of 'personal opinion' as I see nothing wrong with it. ;)
