"Removed topic "Deleted - ID:x"
« on: July 14, 2017, 04:45:57 PM »
I know some heros will say this is not a bug but nevertheless I report it.

In the moderation log there is an info missing.
It reads for example:

"Removed topic "Deleted - ID:x" from "y"

This log entry should mention the NAME of the topic that you just deleted. Everything else is useless.

once again... not a bug -- just something that doesn't work the way YOU think it should...  (and yet, the way YOU think it should is not what we base our product on)
Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

Stop pulling my topics to this personal level all the time. I want to discuss a feature and nothing else.
I attack nobody here and I expect not to be harrassed either. Thanks.

BTT: I will give you a reason why you are even wrong in the matter:

If I go to my moderation log, I can see for every removed POST(!) this detailed info:
Deleted "Re: %topic%" by %author%

So for POSTS this _is_ logged. The %topic% (or call it subject) _IS_ logged.

For THREADS there is only "Removed topic "Deleted - ID:x"
So why this is not logged for THREADS escapes me. It is just not logic to me. Please explain.

Or take it as constructive feedback and suggest to also log this for removed topics.

Messages have subjects, topics don't. A topic is just a collection of messages - and since every individual message can have its own distinct, different subject, you potentially have multiple subjects you could use. Whatever behaviour was used, someone would argue it's wrong.
To assume is to hope that those who came before had the presence of mind and capacity to implement the dreams of those who would come after.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. It seems you have chosen which, and now I must do the same.

In other words, as I originally said.. it works exactly as intended, is not a bug, and won't be changed...

I want to discuss a feature and nothing else.

This Bug Reports board isn't a board for discussion of a feature, nor is this one.

If you believe you've found something that works incorrectly you report it. The team either finds the bug to be valid and begins working on a fix for it or they determine it's not a bug and the thread is moved here. It gets explained as to why it's not a bug; end of discussion.
Please do not PM me for support.

I did not create this thread here. I created it somewhere else and somebody moved it here.
So that is not my fault. Sorry.

You posted this topic in Bug Reports and it was moved here to Fixed and Bogus Bugs, so Steve's point still stands.  Either way, this isn't a fault-finding exercise, it's simply Team members providing you with the necessary information to help you to post in the correct board in the future :).

Just checked it and the name of the topic is displayed for me "Removed topic 'Topic Name' from '''Board Name''' ". Then I removed that topic and from Recycle bin and it stays " 'Removed topic ** from 'Recycle bin' "" since topic doesn't exist anymore, so I don't understand what kind of problem do you have on your forum and is it somehow different than mine.
Oh and yes, before removing some topic from recycle bin its like that 'Removed topic "Deleted - ID:180193" from "Staff chat " ' , so I guess how you don't have board for deleted topics/posts - Recycle bin
From what I can see, after your topic is completely deleted, it will be recorded exact ID of that topic.
