Session Error?

Just installed SMF 1.0.5 on a home server running IIS 6, mySQL 4.1 and PHP 4.4.1.  When I go to post a new message I get the following errors.

Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.
No subject was filled in.
The message body was left empty.

I've also noticed when I try to log in under a fresh session that it will tell me that the username field was blank. (When I could clearly see that it wasn't)  And in general any changes I attempt to make are rejected for similar reasons.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a different theme and see if you experience the same issue. Often this problem is due to out of date template files.

i uploaded the chat package, got it all going good.

went into a forum to reply and got this:

A mod you installed did not install correctly. You will need to re-upload the file /sources/display.php.
