View only Boards for 2.1

Note that 2.1 (like 2.0) has a read-only permission profile that can be applied when creating boards.  That is standard functionality.  Only admins & moderators can post.

Thank you for the note. This part could be made possible with this board's own function. But i need a "only see" function too.
So only see an area but not enter or enter an area, see topics but not be able to read

I need the same, not really sure about what you previously suggested though, can I make board only visible (so one can't enter it, but can only see it exist)? Or that is not possible?

It is not possible with the out of box functionality. You will need a custom mod for that as asked by the op.

would be really great if that mod could get some love from a competent person to port it to 2.1.x
its just nice how it 'teases' new users to create a account, since without a Login they only can see the Topic-Names from each (configured Sub-)Forum.

Just as a note, in my opinion, This sort of tease turns me away from websites, not encourages me to register for them. When I See this sort of behavior on a site I leave the site and don't come back. If I can see the title I should be able to read the contents.

 But again, that is my opinion, And I know some people seem to think this does work
