Easiest/smartest way to restrict a group from being able to post in a board?

Could someone walk me through how to take restrict a particular membergroup from being allowed to post in specific board?

I don't think READ ONLY is applicable here as I have a group (aside from admin) that I'd like to give permission to in order to post. 

Just getting confused with the profiles.

So a profile is 'regular members can do xyz, moderators can do xyz and abc in boards with this profile'.

In this case you want to make a new profile, assign it to that board, and then set up that profile with the groups having the permissions you want them to have in that board. You could start by copying the ready only profile, and just add the posting permissions for the groups who should be able to post.
