Current line:
$txt['show_personal_messages'] = 'Du hast eine oder mehrere Private Mitteilungen erhalten.\nMöchtest du diese lesen (öffnet ein neues Fenster)?';

Correct line:
$txt['show_personal_messages'] = 'Du hast <strong>%1$s</strong> ungelesene persönliche Mitteilungen in Deinem Posteingang.<br><br><a href="%2$s">Zum Posteingang</a>';

When did you last update your language files? The "correct" string has been in the file for 3 years.

Edit: Ah, my bad, I overlooked the "informal" and the "Du"s. Let me check again.

Edit 2: Fixed in Crowdin (the translation platform we use). In 24 to 48 hours, the language file downloads should contain the correct string. It was actually correct for a long time, but 2 years ago I uploaded strings for somebody else, and didn't know Crowdin would automatically choose/approve the new ones. I'm still trying to find and fix all the strings 2 years later...
