Alert sent with registration with activation by e-mail

When the registration requires an activation by e-mail (link in an e-mail) but no action from the admininistration, I keep getting 'alerts' "this user registered and requires activation".
I changed the notifications (in my user profile) by unticking the box to be notified when a new user registers. This does not change anything. Alerts keep coming in.
Any idea on how to stop receive those alerts each time a new user registers please?
