Hello,

RIPE whois seems to have changed its link ~two days ago, from https://apps.db.ripe.net/search/... to https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/query . If I go to RIPE whois for an IP, the current search (old RIPE link) in SMF does no longer work.

Good catch, Amazes me that big sites like that, don't setup a redirect.

sad that there are no 'fixes to current version'-packages available.
always unsure if it would be save to edit manually - without getting errors with next 'version update' :/

This is a fairly simple edit https://github.com/SimpleMachines/SMF/pull/7965/files
Easy to reverse if you need to later.

yeah - i know that its quite easy on one specific change.
already documenting a lot of stuff - but that cant be the correct way.
a mod which tracks manual edits, that could revert any manuall changes (based on installed mods) would be great.

maybe make 'external urls' configurable and saved to the db, instead of hardcoding them.

I *never* edit the source code directly.  I make little modlets to do the find/replaces.

It is not difficult.  All changes are documented (and easily reversed) in the package manager.

One example:
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=589238.0

Download that & use as an example.

We are not going to make mods for all of the minor changes/fixes going into 2.1.5

Either make the change or wait til the release
