Housekeeping after upgrade from 2.0

Hi all!!  I've finally upgraded to version 2.1.4 from 2.0.15 and I'm very impressed! I'm looking for advice on cleaning up as I had made so many customisations it was insane, hence why I stayed on an old version for so long.

I've removed all the 2.0 themes - can I remove Core theme as well?

I assumed all my mods would be uninstalled/broken with the upgrade so I checked the "remove all hooks" option. I hope that was right, I couldn't login to my forum at all before the upgrade, so uninstalling them in advance wasn't an option. Am I now ok to just delete them all? What's the easiest way to delete 120 packages? Package Manager doesn't seem to allow multiple selection. Can I just FTP/SSH delete the packages from the server?

Anything else I should do to de-clutter from 2.0?

Thanks!

I would keep a list of mods that you wanted and check if 2.1 version
But you can delete in bulk from the packages folde

Also, yes you can remove Core. You only need to keep the default theme.

The upgrade and the "remove all hooks" option won't remove the database stuff that third party mods have added in the database. Imo it would be best to also remove the database stuff that the custom mods have added. I am talking about the mods that you don't plan on using anymore. It's no use cluttering the database with left over stuff from old deleted mods.

That's something I hadn't even thought of! Thank you  :)

I've just found a lot of debris from 2.0 mods in the Sources folder and I've deleted all the files I recognise. I wonder whether I'm safe to delete everything in Sources that predates the upgrade to 2.1??

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

They should be safe to remove, anything in any subfolder that wasn't included in / overwritten by the large upgrade should be safe to remove, except attachments, possible custom avatar folder, possible custom smilies and settings.

Just for future,  when I do a major upgrade, I usually delete the sources and themes directories entirely... this
1- makes sure the upgrade contents are clean
2- avoids any possibility that there was a permissions conflict which prevented a file overwrite.
3- avoids accidental conflict with incompatible themes
