Can I give the Global Moderator membergroup the right to approve new members?

I am setting up a new forum and I need someone to take care of the approval of new members. This person should not get all the admin rights so I would like to use the Global Moderator membergroup and add this feature. Is this even possible?
TIA

If I remember correctly, that permission does include some other permissions too. The explanation for "Moderate forum members" says this

This permission includes all important member moderation functions:

    access to registration management
access to the view/delete members screen
extensive profile info, including track IP/user and online status (even if hidden)
    activate accounts
get approval notifications and approve accounts
    immune to ignore PM
    several small things

That's what I had in mind, but unfortunately the Global Moderator can't even see that there is an approval waiting.

Try this, go to their profile, then in Profile Info -menu select "Show Permissions".
Does it list "Moderate forum members" under General Permissions?

Well, if that user actually is in the group, and if the group actually gives out that permission, it should be listed there. It should also be listed there (just striken out), if some other group actually overrides it with a deny.

Check the permissions for the group, and check that the user is actually in the group.

The user is in the group. See attached screenshots please. The forum is not public yet and I only created 2 members that are approved and 1 that's awaiting approval.

And does the group actually have the "Moderate forum members" permission?

I just found where I can add this. Problem solved. Thank you so much for your help, wouldn't have found it without you. "Moderate Forum Members" was the key word.

The permissions setup can be a slight bit confusing at first. :) We've all been there.

Might want to check this out too https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/SMF2.1:Permissions
