Hi, I noticed recently that my forum was many versions out of date, so decided to do the Large Upgrade. I have uploaded all the files but get this error:

Settings.php was not found where it was expected: /home/drufcj/public_html/yorkshirerugby.net/Settings.php! Make sure you have uploaded ALL files from the upgrade package to your forum's root directory. The upgrader cannot continue.

I can't find this file in the folders/files that are in the upgrade. Can anyone advise please?

Illori

it is not included in the upgrade as you should have it from the install already present.

You'll need to restore it from a backup of your original forum, or you can rebiuld it from scratch using the Settings.php in the 2.1.4 install package, but that's a different kettle of fish.
When in Emor, do as the Snamors.

If the file in question isn't present where it should be, then your forum shouldn't be functional at all.

Can you give us some more details? What's the url to your forum? When you say you uploaded all the files, where did you  upload them? The more details you give the better.

Below is a detailed guide on how to properly upgrade your forum.

Many thanks folks, it was the settings.php file that was stopping me. Much appreciated all for your responses.

Hi all, well the settings page did provide me with the upgrading tool. So, I set it running, and 18hrs later it is 4% complete and sat on the same stage (Backup) 4 of 93 tables complete.

How big is your forum and what version are you upgrading from?

smb1963

I can't remember the previous version, and I can't now see what it was. However, I would guess it was last updated about 5 years ago. It was one I set up about 12 or so years ago, but I rarely have anything to do with it these days, it just ticks along in the background. I only did it this week as one of the main users mentioned that they kept getting odd issues, so I thought I would have a go at upgrading it.

You can check the value for the smfVersion variable at your smf_settings table for the forum version.

Anyways, how big is your forum? Can you also post a screenshot of the stuck upgrade page?

Some core files at yorkshirerugby.net appear to be missing (404).  Upgrade.php says they're all there, but can't load them with direct links.  How did you upload the upgrade package?
