Can I change the wording of the New Topic to New Post in both the large screen button and small screen User Actions sub menu list item please?
Kind Regards

You can, but it wouldn't really make sense as a topic is a group of posts, and when you post a new topic you open a new discussion for replies.
A post on the other hand is any message in a topic, so can also be a response to an existing topic.

You opened a new topic (a matter dealt with in a text, discourse, or conversation; a subject.) here, I made a post (a new message, comment, or reply) in your topic.

Thanks for yoor reply Lex - I need to way up what you mention (it does make sense in that it distinquishes between a thread post and new post) But my forum is has Boards and Sub Boards that are topic (subject) based - by necessity. The members find "Post a topic" confusing.

So IF I do the change, how do I do it please?

It's also worth remembering that a "thread" is strictly speaking not even a thing in SMF, there are topics with posts, and topics do not thread out. This depends on definitions a bit though.

I believe what you want is $txt['new_topic'] = 'New Topic'; in index.english.php

Lex - that maybe so but "thread" is a term used/defined in many other alternative software forums(and social media) until I found this one one - thanks for answerting my question  :)

But a thread is THREADED... which is why smf does not use the term...

Also, the term  topic is used in several dozen places throughout the software
