test failed, httpBL

Hi Friends,
I'm having trouble installing httpBL. It's been a while since I last used SMF, so maybe I forgot a step somewhere?

I add the package and click Install Mod in the Package Manager. There are 3 failed tests. I make notes about how to fix the 3 files, and then I click Install Now. But I just get a blank white page.

I tried fixing the 3 files before clicking Install Now, in case I just got it backwards, but it has the same result -- blank white page.

I don't remember that as part of the process. Is the mod just broken?

I wonder if the Stop Forum Spam mod might provide the same or similar protection from spam?

Forget my last post. I was being a dumb dumb.

Yeah, in case of errors you should be able to first install the mod, then manually do the edits that failed.
But there is always a chance it's not that easy. A white page error should usually get logged in your server error log, have you looked at it - what is logged?

SFS is hooks only, you could try that.

Are httpBL and SFS about the same, except for the hooks only thing?

Generally they are doing the same thing, in a slightly different way. Hooks only means a mod installs without file edits.

I'm still waiting to hear from my co-admin. I think I'll try installing SFS. If it goes through ok, then I'll send her a "nevermind".

I don't think httpBL is compatible with 2.1.x.

Ok, SFS installed successfully in a flash! So that's great.

I do have some questions about setting it up, but I'll post those in that board. And I'll mark this one solved.
