Messages issue

Hi all, I have had this issues reported on the forum, can anyone advise?

It appears that emails don't work as a rule, you don't get an email when you join and PMs send but always come up as a 403 error

Those are two separate issues


Regarding the 403, talk to your host. That's a "forbidden" error, which means that something is badly configured on the host side.


Regarding the email... what is your mail setting? Php mail or smtp?
Is your forum sending ANY emails successfully? OR just that one user?

Hi, it was set to PHP, then the host said that PHP is banned on the particular server. So, I changed it to SMTP. If I try to Send Test in the Mail settings, it tries and then says 'Unable to send a test message, check the error log for more information.'

Then in the error log it says 'Could not get mail server response codes'

well, if you ste it to SMTP, you need to enter the SMTP server information in order for SMF to connect to the mails server...   it sounds like you have not done that second step
