I've gone through the instructions to the best of my ability and it sort of works but I get no actual topic text. I get the totals and the board structure but no actual topics. I do get this error though:

Converting...
Converting topics... Unsuccessful!
This query:

    INSERT INTO `cmcdatabase`.smf_topics
    (ID_TOPIC, isSticky, ID_FIRST_MSG, ID_LAST_MSG, ID_MEMBER_STARTED, ID_MEMBER_UPDATED, ID_BOARD, ID_POLL, locked, numReplies, numViews)
    VALUES ('1093', '0', '11518', '11663', '82', '69', '23', '', '0', '4', '52'),
    ('1094', '0', '11535', '11630', '3', '3', '7', '', '0', '2', '49'),

that goes on a bit and ends:

     ('1611', '0', '18345', '18396', '3', '29', '14', '', '0', '1', '31'),
    ('1612', '0', '18353', '18474', '104', '104', '7', '', '0', '3', '49');

Caused the error:

Duplicate entry '1093' for key 1

I know I'm probably doing something really stupid but I just don't know what it is. Any help woulod be great. If you need any info please let me know.

I'm giong from phpBB 2.017 to SMF 1.1, server is Apache.

I'm also looking at the advice in http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=57030.0 but I don't think it's the answer. But I am a bit confused so it may well be!

Hi Gary,

Can you go in to admin panel / maintenance and run the maintenance options in there?

Yes, what would I need to do though?

Thanks for the quick reply by the way  :D

I went in and did the find/repair thing but it hasn't made any difference. After the repair I still don't have any topics listed but it now shows no errors.

EDIT: Now I don't have any totals after recounting the stats. The board structure is still spot on though.

EDIT II :

I just tried to post and got this error:

Database Error
Duplicate entry '3-1' for key 2
File: /home/httpd/vhosts/dashack.co.uk/httpdocs/forum/Sources/Subs-Post.php
Line: 1552

--

I'm doing something really silly aren't I?

EDIT III:

A repair (under maintenance) gives the following error:

Duplicate entry '2-1' for key 2
File: /home/httpd/vhosts/dashack.co.uk/httpdocs/forum/Sources/RepairBoards.php
Line: 186

Hi Gary,

We're looking in to it. Please bear with us.

No problem. I'd be happy to put you in as admin if it would help?

Fizzy

Hi Gary,

It seems obvious that the conversion of the topics just didn't work out for one reason or another.

Do you still have the original posts in a phpbb database table? If so and you feel confident to work in phpmyadmin it might be good to start off with the password issue and then move forward from there (if the two forums are using different databases).

If you aren't confident and would like some direct assistance then please feel free to contact my PM in confidence.

Regards

Hi there,
I seem to have the same problem as the above...
The conversion has converted some topics but then ends with the duplicate entry error.

I tried the maintanace in the SMF forum but to no effect.
Who's got the golden answer for me?
I allready started a new topic about my problem here: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=61019.0

thanks...

I think there is a problem with phpBB2 to SMF 1.1 RC1 converter.
In all the conversions I've done, I experienced the same problem.

The way I follow is this anymore => phpBB2 -> SMF 1.0.5 => Upgrade to 1.1 RC1
No problems..

I think Grudge should look at that.

Thanks for the tip...I will try it that way..

Elmacik is absolutely right.

Follow that Yellow Brick Road and you should be fine :)
