Hi,

I have Simpleportal installed on my custom theme SMF. Now I installed Ad Management and when viewing my website with default theme, I can see the Ads. However with my custom theme I don't see the ads.

I did some manual modification (parse) to the three attached documents and now I only see the ads when viewing a post. On my main portal page I don't see them, on my forum index I don't see them and also when viewing a category I don't see them.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

SomeThing Strange happend!

i 'm not using default Theme, but i made all changes manualy to my custom theme. anyway in my Custom theme there is just 2 customized templates: BoardIndex.template.php and index.template.php! when is swiched to default theme Mod works correct but when i switched back there is no Ad! i've changed settings to show ads just after first post of topics and as i said "Display.template.php" is'nt in my custom theme so SMF uses the default one but in default theme "Post Like" ads are visible and in custom theme there is no Ad! i'm totaly confused, Help me...

I love ccbtimewiz's parsing for the index.template...

Find </td>

Riiight... There's only about six billion of those in the Apollo theme...

@ jonnyfishboy: No in the index.php file in the root of your SMF install.

@ goodman854: Have you manually edited that file. ???

@ NigelW: Do you need this mod with Simple Portal. ???

@ darklord2: Have you checked permissions and cleared your forum cache as well as your browser cache. ???

@ Kat: That edit is tricky, what you are really searching for is the whitespace attached to the </td> seeing as it's the only one that is put in that position in the default theme. (hope that made sense) With a good editor you can find it. What I usually do for a custom theme to find that code is this:

Seach for the</td> in the default theme....find the code that is around it and search for that in your custom theme instead of the </td> Then just experiment where to put the ad mod edit around that area. :) (Hope that made sense as well) The edits in the template files can pretty much go where you want them if you are willing to experiment. :)

I checked my main index and according to the Parsed code everything is right and where it should be.

I have the same problem (Admin controls not appearing in Admin section) with the Shop Mod.

A have just installed this mod and it adds 2 instances of the ad when I create the record.

#3708
Same thing occured on my board, that was because of Install > UnInstall > ReInstall!

logicaly its must not be true but:
Look for "$adcounter++;" in Display.template.php if there is 2 instance of that code, remove one of them. actualy i dont know why; but it fixed the problem for me!

i mean if there is something like:

$adcounter++;
$adcounter++;
echo '

change that to

$adcounter++;
echo '

Thanks for the suggestion - I tried but it does not change anything.  I have only installed it once - I will give up with it for now

Yeah, that's what I've been doing.

It's a real bugger on themes like ApolloBB, though.

Thanks, for that!

darklord2

I know those things are logicaly not related but i thought that fixed my problem.
anyway, sorry for wasting your time.

kat

EEK!

I keep getting some well weird errors, when I try to add this to the ApolloBB theme.

If I grovel, most unseemingly, could someone help me out, with this, pretty-please...?

I just downloaded the ad mod. And went to check the the instructions for installing and they are not showing up I'm Using  1.1.8 it is saying that  An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry, but this modification does not appear to be compatible with the selected version.

And it shows That it is compatible with the version im using. Not sure on if i just upload the files straight to my FTP and then what do i do from there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

kat

If you look back a page, you'll see that I had exactly the same problem, itsdice.

I installed it and all went well, except for the manual edits that I need to make to the ApolloBB theme...

Go ahead and install it.

If you get any warning messages, though, don't even think of ignoring them.

Oh... You HAVE taken a full backup, haven't you?  ;)

itsdice

No i havent backed anything up yet but i will before i install. Thanks for your help. So once i upload, just go to my admin in my forum and i should see it?

kat

Yep. Then, apply and you're away.

As I said, though, don't ignore any warnings you get, after you hit "Apply".

Quite a bit of manual editing to do with custom themes. You can get the details here:

itsdice

Thank you again. I will post if i have any more issues. I am just using the Default Theme.  And i wont ignore the warnings i want everything working. Thanks Again!!  :D
