Hi mrmiyagi,

Once you install the theme, go to Admin - Current Theme.

You will then see Theme Options and Preferences and a list for custom buttons.  So in my case, for Custom 1 name, I use Gallery. Then next line specifies link/file I used ?action=mgallery"
Under type of custom button, I left it as Link.

And that's it. Regards.

OMG you are a genius, thank you soo much!!

Something I thought looked a million miles away from possibility was done in 2 seconds :p

You see this ?action=mgallery" , can I edit this and put in for example; ?action=banlist"

Thanks for the compliment mrmiyagi, but the true geniuses here are the people who bring us this mod, Dragooon and Nao. I'm just a guy who fumbles around to make things work, half the time not sure what the heck is happening.

I participate here because I have taken so much (mods, themes, etc) and to not give back (help others out) invites "unbalanced energy" or "unbalanced karma".

As for you question of using "?action=banlist", I am not sure what you are trying to do. But in any case this is not the right place to discuss it. So perhaps you should open up a new topic on the appropriate board and hopefully someone will respond.

Regards.

Geniuses are people who invent stuff out of thin air...
I think we are more like craftsmen, we build on each other's ideas, we improve stuff, we add little ideas here and there... But we didn't create a revolution in the concept of Gallery itself. The work between v1.0 and v1.5 was just to make it on par with other solutions in terms of functionality -- while keeping it 100% free. As for future versions, we have a large to-do-list of features to implement, but while some of these ideas I don't remember seeing implemented elsewhere, they are mostly born out of common sense and/or regular use.

All in all, I just wanted to say that I feel uncomfortable at being called a genius just because I share my work with the community. Which I can afford, so it's really no big deal to me ;) (I'm not sure I'm very clear... But it's late here.)
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Here's some of the stuff from my to-do-list...
I'm just posting them to see if it generates any reaction regarding one or more entries. So that I know where I should put my priorities when I come back to work on SMG. (And, no, whatever the reaction, I will not my priorities on Notifications.)

Quote- Show users on gallery? (on index / per item)
- Add "most popular items" etc as an alternative to "recent items" on index
- censorText for comments, titles, descriptions
- I need to work on separating pictures from video/audio in the single upload area, to make the form simpler
- Total Gallery Filesize (+ per-album filesize?) in stats
- Total Views / Average Views per day in stats
- Average Views per day per item ("0.76 downloads/day")
- Still in stats: best rated items
- Notify on new picture, on new comment / post a locked topic for each album with automatic messages in them every time a new item is posted?
- Copy album icons to the album_icons folder instead of "forcing them" (might not be needed any more, since I think I've fixed all bugs related to this...)
- Deal with user albums where user was deleted from forum
- Per-album quotas (total size, total items)
- Album creation date / "older media upload" / "media activity" (e.g. "2006-2008")
- Need to make sure albums and their children are sorted correctly in the main album list...
- Show a small icon (10x10?) next to item titles in thumbnail boxes, specifying the item type (audio/video/picture)

Let's discuss them, if you will.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Quote from: Chambers Dictionarygenius noun (geniuses or in sense 5 genii) 1. someone who has outstanding creative or intellectual ability.

But apologies Nao, if that makes you uncomfortable.

Looking forward to more great mods from you and as SmokyBlue says
Quotesounds great, all of it.

Best regards.

Happy New Year to all!
I see you have quite the ambitious list of "to do's"..

I wish you luck with all that programming.  I have no idea how to program, so we leave it to the professionals and appreciate what you do!

Thanks!

@Spock> We have a saying in French... "On est toujours le con de quelqu'un d'autre". How can I translate this? "One is always someone else' fool"?
Means in our case that whatever you do, there's always somebody who will do it better.
The only time this didn't happen in my life was for Kyodai Mahjongg -- but then again, I knew people who worked in hardcore game programming and they were clearly ahead of me in terms of 3D knowledge etc. Should have helped me stay humble I guess, but it never works like that ;)

Not so ambitious... I think half of the list can be implemented in a couple of days. The other half will take longer -- make a week or two. I don't know what else I'll do after that ;) The rest of my to-do-list isn't that interesting really. Maybe SMG will be perfect and I'll switch fulltime to Aeva until it's perfect as well? And then I can retire safely? :P

Perhaps you can take some time off for yourself etc...once you 'retire safely'!!!

Do you actively work in programming as a job?  I worked on IT type stuff at work, but did not want to do that when I got home...
I try to do other things different from my job or career...if that is what I call it???

The ideal career is something you don't see as work, so chances are you'd do it at home to...

In the logs it says:

/index.php?action=profile;u=43
8: Undefined index: mgalcoms
Datei: /Sources/Profile.php
Zeile: 300

and

8: Undefined index: mgallery_view_coms
Datei: /Sources/Profile.php
Zeile: 240

Any ideas regarding my issue? Anyone?

It's quite annoying since it's flooding the logs!  :(

Nao 尚

You should attach your Profile.php file.

Forgot to answer other posts...

@Dragooon> What do you mean?

Well, "time off", as in "enjoy yourself"?

QuoteDo you actively work in programming as a job?
I already said it multiple times -- I work fulltime on SMF (or my SMF-powered website).
When I say "fulltime", I don't mean "on my free time". I mean I wake up, take a breakfast, then go online and get to work with SMF stuff.
My "paid job" used to be as a games programmer (www.cynagames.com). I took a break two years ago because I'd "lost it". I'm not sure what to do next... I was hoping that my work on SMF would bring me some interesting opportunities but nothing so far. Still, I enjoy my work on SMF because of the diversity.

Sad :(

I have new errors on 1.5.2 (http://salsamadrid.org) and people some times cannot upload some files and some videos and i change max_upload_size and so on:
- 1st error (in some users):

2: filesize() [<a href='function.filesize'>function.filesize</a>]: stat failed for /home2/salsamad/public_html/mgal_data/tmp/bangaloo+trivial 021.jpg
Apply Filter: Only show the errors from this file
Archivo: /home2/salsamad/public_html/Sources/Subs-MGallery.php
Línea: 2104

- Update: I have more errors: Please check the attachment screenshot.

- 2nd error (very common in several users):
http://salsamadrid.org/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=mass;album=29;xml;upcook=YTo0OntpOjA7czoyOiI0NyI7aToxO3M6NDA6IjRmZWE5ZjM3MjFlM2YwNWEzMzRhNDQyODc1OTE2MTA5MjM0NmM5MWMiO2k6MjtpOjE0MjA0MTExNjM7aTozO2k6MDt9
Apply Filter: Only show the errors with the same message
No especificaste un archivo a subir

For some information, in spanish "No especificaste un archivo a subir" is the translation of the function mgallery_file_not_specified

Any idea?

Sorry mate, my fault! Here you go...

Nao 尚

@magarto> You know, if I wasn't working on these, I'd be working fulltime on some other hobby... You could just as well say, "Although your dedication is nothing short of stunning, you really should be ashamed that you're spending so much time working on a hobby* of yours, instead of trying to find a steady job!" :P
* I know it can be hard to imagine this kind of complicated stuff is a hobby, but I love a good challenge. Most team members will agree with me I think ;)

@hansdampf> okay, you have some missing strings in your Modifications.english.php file... I'm taking my chances based on your curious nickname - you're probably not using English or French, in which case... Well, in which case it's only natural that it doesn't work for you. You realize that you need to update your own language files for all mods that edit the Modifications files automatically, eh? ;) Just have a look at smf-media.com, you'll probably find your required language files there.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

hansdampf

Ah... thank you so much! I could have figured this out on my own, though... shame on me.  :-X

However, there's still one error left. Could it be I need to touch another language file?

It says

Quote
http://.../index.php?action=profile;u=60;sa=mgalcoms
8: Undefined index: member
File: /.../Sources/MGallery-Sub.php
Line: 1595

and this is the line:

$context['page_index'] = $mgalFunc['construct_page_index']($scripturl . '?action=profile;u=' . $memID . ($context['is_smf2'] ? ';area' : ';sa') . '=mgalitems', $_REQUEST['start'], $context['member']['mgallery']['total_comments'], 20);

TIA for your help - much appreciated!  :)

Is it possible this mod could botch up aeva?

I set up a test forum for my friends to test out and mess around with. They want to put up a message board for their site once I've customized it the way they want.

It's a 1.1.7 forum. The first mod I installed was aeva mainly due to it's alphabetical listing on the mod site. It worked fine. I tested it and it worked. One of the last mods I installed was the smf media gallery. Which also works fine. However, as I was going over the test posts I made, the youtube link is no longer embeded, it's just a link. I tried a few other youtube links and what happens is just a url is posted. When I click modify the code shows url /url tags.

I figured since nao works on both mods, this would be a good place to post.
