from the way you wrote, you are not asking to access an external image... you are asking to be able to upload an image to an external server from within SMG.

If you want to include external *images* (and leave them off your server, except for a thumbnail and preview), you can do so with the Foxy! addon.

Oke sorry my fault.
I mean it like the second post.
The image uploaded at imageshack or somewhere else
and the url used to link it to the gallery.
how can I do this ?

Hmmm... Well I am using the gallery.. And only Guests and Regular users in the membergroup section are checked by default. I would like to know where to change it so they will all be checked by default. I found some arrays and a small list but editing them did nothing to the check boxes.. LOL!!

You really can't wait for the beta...?
Reminder: Aeva Media = SMG + Aeva with tons of new features for SMG (and a much cooler admin area for Aeva, as well as auto-embedding permissions in future betas.)

If your gonna make me wait I will LOL ... I really like both mods so I am not complaining . Just wanted to change that part of it for the interim is all.

Can an experienced user please tell me how to rename the "gallery" tab in the menu bar to something different?  Like to media or something more descriptive of the contents?

I have looked at the modifications.english.php file and was able to find a string that I thought was it but when I changed it to "media" the text disappered from the tab.  I changed it back and the Gallery text came back (whew).   

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Which version of SMF are you using?  If it is SMF 1.1 you'll need to edit the index.template.php of your theme.  If you are using SMF 2.0 you'll edit the menu links in the Sources/Subs.php.

I've linked you to the tutorials for adding a tab to each version.  Of course you aren't adding one, but editing an existing tab.  It should put you on the right track however.

@gargoyle> Foxy! is installed on smf-media.com but it's missing the last couple of new features because it's an old install of SMG and I can't uninstall it (I don't have FTP access). But you can test it there, it's the purpose of that gallery. It's also installed on noisen.com, with full features etc, but please don't use it to post test stuff. It's a live gallery and I wouldn't want to bother my friends with test stuff appearing as 'unseen' in their menu bar.

If Dragooon gave up on this mod, then why is the mod still provided by the SMG team, and why are you still using Dragooons server? Just a qurious Q.

- He wants to keep ownership of SMG because he created it, which is fair enough,
- Since he no longer will work on it and it was painful enough for me, we arranged it that SMG 2.0 would be the final branch release, and the next version would be renamed to the name of my choice, and would be owned by me.
- I renamed it to Aeva Media so that it can use the Aeva brand and branch (ahah), also using the ID Nao:Aeva which will allow me to distribute it on the official Aeva mod page. Also, it was the logical choice for me, since I'd been thinking of integrating Aeva into SMG for some time -- in the end it was the other way around.
- Although I'm now the main owner, I still consider Dragooon to be an author. He's listed as "ex-developer" but we arranged it so that he could re-join the team in the future if he ever wants to join again.
- As for Dragooon's server, it was part of the arrangement. I do not have a problem with using his server anyway. More of a problem with his forum though -- now the gallery stuff is only part of the forum, and I'm not interested in reading the Facebook crap, the Curve Mobile stuff and the Slideshow support. (I have nothing to do with that.) So it's up to the users, they can use aeva.noisen.com, smf-media or simplemachines.org for support. I will progressively spend less time on smf-media.com.

Yeah, I know, Nao:Aeva wasn't the original ID for the package obviously It was karlbenson:aevac.
I just don't feel it's necessary to bother the customize team with that.
