Not sure if this would be IE8b issue, a SMF issue, a SMF 2.0b4 issue or a IE8b + 2.0b4 issue but; when I click on the "new" icon for new messages it does not take me to the new message. If I'm not mistaken, when I ran IE7 and clicked "new" it would take me to the first new post (?).

It looks like an issue with IE8. If you turn on compatibility view (which makes it render the page the same way that IE7 does), it works fine.

I'll look into it more and see if I can figure out what the issue is.

Gotcha, thanks! Beta 8 seems to be buggy, and I have to switch to compat. view at least once a day or so for various sites. However, I know they're trying to be more correct with the way IE8 reads code over past versions, so I'm never sure if it's IE8 or the site I'm on.

General rule of mine: Check in FireFox (Gecko), Opera, and Safari/Chrome (WebKit). If it works in any two of those, it's probably IE8's fault (Safari has some odd JS bugs, as does Opera, but they don't usually overlap). Also, if it works in any of those browsers and in an older IE, then it's also probably an IE8 bug.

Buggy ?, KahneFan it's a beta 2!.  Also did you click the emulate IE7 button ?

Use a different browser, hxxp:www.firefox.com [nonactive]

Riker, I know beta's are buggy, but some of these bugs I figured would be fixed before a public beta was released. I use the IE7 button quiet often to make pages work correctly.

Danny, I've tried FF in the past and used it for a while, I but I found I always ended up back at IE. Google Chrome is pretty cool to play with also.

This is Microsoft. They aren't bugs, they are "features". (Sadly, this is really close to truth.)

The less features IE has, the better ;)
