Would it at all be possible to make a block to allow particular images and particular categories (selectable) to display in a block?

I am talking about SMF Media Gallery (Simple Machines Forum Media Gallery)

Also, its quite a pain to make a block, later not like it and have to delete it to make a different one, could you not just allow one to edit it regardless of what they do?

I like flexibility, and being limited like that is kind of annoying lol

Janet -
You are using PortaMx, not SimplePortal.

I have read nearly post in this thread - but does anyone have a solution for adding a random image for SMF Media Gallery in a block of the Portal?

KahneFan

I may be missing the question here, but with SMF 2.0x + SMG + SP; ADMIN --> BLOCKS --> ADD BLOCK --> MEDIA GALLERY BLOCK --> "Display type (1 random, 0 latest)" [___1____]

So is this Mod officially compatible with SMF 2.0 RC1 yet, looking at the last few pages of post, it would appear some people can get it and others cant?

if it is possible, how, and where can i download compatible version

Thanks

It is possible, the 2.0b4 works fine with it. You will receive an error message during install in regards to dropdown.css, but you don't have to worry about it, it will still work. I have it running on my RC1 site right now and it works fine.

It works with RC1. Just ignore the dropdown.css edit error.

Currently utilizing SMF 1.1.8 - Custom Theme
SP - 2.0.4

Following the install Instructions I go to Uninstall 2.0.4 before installing 2.1.1 but get the following error on the uninstall admin page:

7.    Execute Modification    ./Sources/Subs.php    Test failed

12.    Execute Modification    ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english-utf8.php    Test failed

Should I continue with the uninstall??

[SiNaN]

Yes, of course with a back-up. Then using the manual installation instructions on the Mod Site for the 2.0.4 package, remove the edits from those files too.

If i unistall my old version and install the 2.1.1 version all my portal setting will be lost? All my selected articles and blocks configs will be lost?

Eliana Tamerin

They shouldn't be, since SimplePortal stores its information in tables in your forum database, and they are not removed upon uninstallation. However, every installation of modifications carries some risk of corruption, so if you're in doubt, back up your database (there's an easy backup utility through your SMF Admin panel, which you can read about here).

edogawaconan:

Download the package.
Extract it.
Open install2.php with Notepad.
Make this edit:

Find:

'update_remove'

Replace:

'ignore'

Make sure you replace all instances, there are more than one.

Save the file and pack it up as .zip.
Use that package.

Can you provide a test accound and a link to your forum?

Well, I've never heard/seen such an issue yet. What was the error and did it disappear when you uninstalled the mod?

I have just attempted to install SP2.1.1 onto SMF 2.0RC1. According to the SMF package installation, there were no problems (except for dropmenu.css, which I ignored). It told me installation was successful, however absolutely nothing has changed on my forum, regardless of which theme I use. There is no way to access SP via the Admin console, nor has it changed the index of my site; it basically appears as if SP were never installed in the first place.

Is there any reason for this? It's as if the package installation manager lied to me about installing SP in the first place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
