• This release is only meant for testing basic Tracker functionality

• Usage on shared host with large number of peers not recommended

Setup
1) Make backup
2) Install using package manager
3) Edit settings
4) Edit permissions

Usage
Upload torrent using attachements feature.
Show torrent on post: [torrent]<id>[/torrent] (automatically added)

you can also add torrents via createTorrent function
usage:

$torrentOptions = array();
$posterOptions = array();
createTorrent(file_get_contents('test.torrent'), $torrentOptions, $posterOptions);

Features

• Tracking of statistics (ratio)
• Support for announce, scrape, including compact announce and multi scrape
• Can select Passkey or IP authentication

You can modify it for your purposes.

Every torrent i try i get an error in utorrent stating "invalid torrent file".

Ive used external torrents from the top 2 public trackers and ive tried http://MYDOMIAN.COM/announce.php as the tracker, same error every time.

Ive not checked the log, the torrents worked BEFORE i uploaded them to my forum, i'll reinstall the mod and check the torrents after ive uploaded and redownloaded thru' this tracker system.

Error is that there is text after end tag in some file. (another end tag)

Its changing the tracker url too, so i guess it doesnt support external torrents, its also putting ?> at the beginning of the file, that code is also at the top of the forum, so i guess thats a code typo in one of the files the mod has edited.

Niko hope this will be the best mod ever, after developing arcade completely . Spend some time in developing some time for 1.1.5 compactable.

For now i do have one beta 2 in another subdomain, will test and give you the feedback as soon.

i have to agree this is great, i just set up a test forum and it works great, shame its not for the 1.1.x releases, i use tinyportal and development for that to work on the new 2nd series im sure wont be ready for awhile, problem i have now is, which do i sacrifice. I love tinyportal, but i also love the look of this new SMF and torrents.

I looked into how difficult this would be to convert to SMF 1st series but im affraid im new to this lark and its way too intelligent for me, is the developer thinking of making a downgrade or is thier someone working on one? Currently it can't show data from external trackers.

OK, the new annonnce.php got rid of the errors.
(By the way these errors only occured when connecting with BitTornado and BitTorrent clients.)

Besides displaying the list, you can sort it by whatever you want. As you may notice in the picture, the list is sorted by size (see the arrow in the size list?).

The permissions issue is likely to do with languages. Are you using English-UTF8 on your forum?

As for the 500 error please advise what is in your forum and server error logs.

500 error is probably because announce.php/scrape.php has invalid permissions.

so permissions on this file should be ... 755 or 777 ???

Instead of just stating "Admin error" - please state WHAT error you get. Just telling us there's a problem cannot help us fix it.

But still, it would be nice to have overall user statistics and ratio. Anyway, it is better, if you just want simple tracker feature and have existing SMF forum, than installing TBDev or something like it.

But there is an error on RC1.2.

Installation of rev108 works fine.
Adding a torrent through an attachment works fine.
Stats works fine (I see myself seeding or leeching when I do).

Except proper Leeching/Seeding does not work.

I don't know if it's a bug or if it means we have to design ourselves how to show the torrents list to our visitors?

Also, is it possible to allow DHT, Local Peer Discovery and Peer Exchange options? (it is currently forbidden and we don't have choice)

OK, I found a quick fix to the "headers" problem.

If error_reporting is set to E_ALL, some notices may appear (such as in my previous code example) which initiates the header.
So you have to change the error_reporting() function at the top of announce.php to E_STRICT to fix this problem.

So now the BT client (uTorrent) has the following error:

And if I manually call the announce.php?p=xxx page:

Note that there is an ending "e" on the announce.php manual call, is it normal?

How can I fix this problem? Is it due to uTorrent (I doubt about it) or the mod parsing?

I found the source of the problem.
It's in the "peer_id" that is not sent by the BT client.

Why do you require a peer_id?

Why are the "info_hash" and "peer_id" empty?

I "faked" a call to announce.php with the valid info_hash and with the 20 first characters of "p" as the peer_id and it seems to work:

The question is: why the BT client does not send "info_hash" nor "peer_id", or why does the script doesn't decode the values of peer_id and info_hash sent by the client?



SOLUTION FOUND:

Do not clean the request in the announce.php file.
Remove (or comment) any cleanRequest or get_magic_quotes_gpc :

This installed np on rc 2 using posted attachment (108). There is supposed to be user stats? Where do i view them? In admin>tracker settings there is just a few settings for the actual tracker and I see nowhere to view any other information on the torrents.

Niko, I am curious about the torrent categories and how to implement them. Am I overlooking something or is it a part of the mod that is unfinished? I see categories in the code and templates, but I do not see how they are to be set up and how to upload a torrent to a select category. My coding skills are not that good, so I realize that I may be simply overlooking it.

The tracker part works very well on rc3. I have tested it out with a few select members. The torrent file is uploaded into a post as an attachment. They can then download it from the post or from the torrent listing at ./index.php? action=tracker It also adds statistics in your profile. It is very basic, but solid. Nice work so far.

Do you have the passkey enabled in the tracker admin? I got the same error without a passkey, upon activating the passkey, it started working. when using passkey, once you upload a torrent, you need to re-download it to your torrent client so that your active copy contains the passkey as well.

Just a heads up- I know you said it was untested  :)

neither version 125 or 127 will allow a download of a torrent once upload.  I get a "you are not connected to the internet" error page when I click on a download link.  After clicking back, I can still browse the test forum, just not download, so I know my connection is good. Upon removing 127 and reinstalling version 123, downloads work again.

correction- It is a test forum that has had many test mods installed and then uninstalled, possibly causing the issue. I tried version 127 on a clean install RC3 and it works as it should.  :)

I can post torrents fine, and the post looks ok.  But when I click on the download link I get an error message in utorrent saying "Unable to load....:invalid torrent file!"

Anyone have any ideas?  If not, I would like to use this great mod without the ability to download, until it gets a fix.

Im getting a Test Failure msg on Load.php when I'm installing that mod.

I've actually got it working by just going back and installing rev124.  That seems to work for me fine.

Now, I just need a little help... :)

I can see how to disallow downloading of the torrent for members, which I want to do.  But what I would also like to do is find a way to add to the description and/or category of the torrent file details.  Or, in the alternative, remove them along with the other empty fields.

When a member looks at the details, all I need is for them to see the files included in the torrent, along with the name of the torrent, when it was uploaded and who uploaded it.

Just those 3 things.

Anyone know how to accomplish this?

btw, Aasgard, when I was working with rev129 I too got that Load.php error on install.  I just did a manual install and it worked out.  Sort of.  :)  You may want to give that a try.  All you need to do is add some code to the Load.php file.

Thanks durnib, I have installed rev124. There is a problem with Ajax Chat for 2.0RC3, after installing the tracker mod the ajax chat isn't working for administrators, it says something about ratioColor in Load.php.

I get an error after uploading a file, when I go to download it, it says 'cannot read from source...please contact server administrator'. Then the download window pops up at the same time, but if I click "save" or "open with" nothing happens. :D
If I can just get passed that I would feel confident enough to put it on a live site.

I'm using rc3 and they all gave me errors on install except the first one in the original post... rev 124.

When I attempt to download the attachment torrent it tells me the source file cannot be read. Other file types are working fine. I added torrent to the attachment list as well, not sure what's going on?

I got the same thing myself on the last version. I uninstalled it and haven't attempted any more with it for quite a while now. It was mainly a novelty mod for me. I just wanted to see what could be done with it.

It's ashame that more torrent mods are not getting more attention, they're definitely needed even if for only very small communities.

Hopefully Niko will have the time to finish it someday. It is my understanding that he is busy with more pressing projects, so I understand the delay here. As I said before, it has a great potential for future use. I do not have a need for it in a production site myself, but if it is ever finished, I may give it another go.  :)

is it possible to add tracker url in php file if i can then in which and where should i place the url

Hi,

I've installed this mod, and I can upload torrents and it kind of works... but only admin can download the torrents, I've tried to search on user permissions and I couldnt see anything that enables normal user download.

Everytime a user clicks on torrent, says_
You are not allowed to download from tracker

What should I do?

Let me re-phrase my question: What exactly does this MOD do?

My apologies.  :)  It gives a very basic tracker function to the forum. It uses the SMF permission system to allow/ disallow user groups access to the tracker and to upload torrents. Torrents are uploaded via a post using the attachment function. It keeps basic stats on the uploader, the seeders/leeches of a torrent and also ratio. It also has the ability to use a passkey. It is very basic and it does work, but it doesn't yet have the ability to set up torrent categories, etc. If you are curious about it's functions, do as I did and set up a fresh smf install in a subdomain and then installed this mod to play with. I gave access to a couple of friends and we uploaded and tested it out.

Funny I've tried this many times and utorrent still says 0 seeds.

Are you using the passkey function?  I haven't used this in a long time, but if I am not mistaken, you must create the torrent in uTorrent and save it, but do not load it. Then, upload it to your tracker. Then, you must download the torrent file from your tracker and load the downloaded one, not the original. 
If you are not using the passkey, I think you still have to do the same.

EDIT: I really don't know but this is more trouble then it's worth. I'm going to uninstall this and forget about it.

I have no idea myself. As I said, I tried this out as a test, but haven't used it in almost a year.

It's several years old and probably won't work properly on a current version of SMF. And if you try and use an old version of SMF you'll probably get hacked. So don't.

Um, nothing... there is not a combination that actually works properly right now. If you do try using this, no-one is going to fix any bugs.

It needs someone (NOT ME, I really do not have time or interest) to go through and write a new one from scratch.

It is not working for current versions of SMF as far as I know, and not meant to either.
