Hello, this is a follow up tp my previous post. I have approved 50 more people since then put no welcome message is going out. I received no errors on installation and had no problems making the welcome topics. Besides the Welcome Configuration is there others settings which could be causing the topics not to be created? thanks
Is similar to my problem (as I wrote yesterday), but it seems that there are no workarounds since vbgamer45 has not answered yet, althought he has certainly see my post...

have you checked your database and see if it created a new table called something like, 'smf_welcome'.  If it's missing you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling?

It's this part that writes to the database - WelcomeTopicsql.php

You'll have to check that through your myphpadmin control panel and in your 'smf' database or whatever you named your database for your forum.

yep smf_welcome is in the data base

I unistalled and reinstalled successfully... the thing i did not expect is that the welcome topics i created were still there even after the reinstall... but it still does not generate the new topics on registration approval  :'(

that's weird.  maybe look at all the files that the package modified and see if the changes are indeed there.  i believe the first time I installed it, it installed without any errors, but when i looked at the files, the changes were not there.

I think at this point I will just hope for some guidance. It looks like the changes are there so without any failure messages I don't know what to do. It should be working but it is not. Can someone get back to us with a possible solution?

This mod creates a new topic when a user registers on the forum.

VERY impressed, as always. In my efforts to test it I did note this - which might be important:

I registered an account (though I use member activation) with one browser. Instead of going to the email to click said link I activated the user manually via their profile link. This resulted in no welcome topic. (I then changed the email and reactivated the proper way and, of course, it worked just wonderfully.)

Anyhow, again, impressive as always. This is with somewhere near 100 packages installed and VERY heavily manually modified and yet it didn't break anything.

the link is

As far as activation, i activated all mine the proper way also and not through their profile link.   I am wondering if a 3rd install would just be a waste of time or not.

i have the same issue. I can get it to work if I make a new account in admin, and then activate it from members in admin, but thats it.

holes in this mod indeed.

For the first time since installing it (like 100 registrations later) I noticed that it generated 2 welcome messages to the same new sign up.  The topic author was listed as a guest even though I had set it up so I was the sender. I deleted one of the welcome messages. I went to the board to modify the other ( so it would not say guest) and noticed their was a place where you could enter a user name and email as the author?  I tried to enter myself as the author but it would not let me.

Ok.... i am being cheeky here so shoot me if u like....... think its fantastic but can i make a cheeky suggestion should you ever want to update it or make it even better???

Is it possible to multiple posts in multiple boards. So that when a new member joins it will send a post to one board, and a seperate different post to another board or 2?

It is just such a fantastic mod that it would be even better if you could have it automatically post different posts to different board or under different usernames per posting.

Does that make sense??? Cheeky arent I!! Sorry xx

Follow up.  After giving up on the MOD for 48 hours (and just not getting around to uninstalling it) it started generating topics last night as designed.  I have no idea what triggered it since I moved on to toher things, but I am very thankful it started working.  Thanks Steve

A great mod, brilliant idea.

What can I do to put the link to settings of this mod in my admin panel? (my default language is spanish in the forum) I only see this option when I put the forum in english. In others mods this fix it when I copy some files and change the english.php to spanish.php but with this one I did this with the

WelcomeTopic.english-utf8.php
WelcomeTopic.english.php

and don't fix it.

I hope you understand my poor english.

Thank you.

I'm having the same problem. It makes a double post for the new user. I had 2 messages set, then tried just one, but it still double posts. Any ideas?

Promise to not hit me? :D

Err...

If I wanted the person to get notification of this topic, when it was created, would that even be possible??? I've been looking...

If I wanted the {username} to link to their profile... Err... How much of a pain in the butt would that be too?

In other words - it's fantastic and, well, when it installs on MY forum you know it's a good mod. I am happy with it just as it is BUT... It would be fantastic to see a few other options such as those two and, for the life of me, I haven't a clue how to make either of those happen. Well, I have a clue HOW in theory but I have looked and, again, I am pretty sure that it is past my abilities.
