Can't connect to MySQL Server...

Hello everybody,

first: I'm german, so it might be, that you don't understand what I'm saying Anyway, I am trying right now to install smf I uploaded everything all right, then I first had some problems with the install.php when it asked for the FTP Settings. It took a while, but I read here in the forum about putting "ftp://" before the server name and then it worked... So now, I'm one step further... But, I can't get the connection to my MySQL Server... I already created a database on my Server and I tried it several times with all possible information I have... But it can't connect... I hope you know what I mean... Is there anything I could do?

When you created the database and the user, did you grant the user full access and permission to the database.

And check out the MySQL server name. Make sure that you fill in the right name. In 99% cent of the cases is ''localhost''. You can check it by going to phpmyadmin and clicking at the database name, it will be shown on the top of the page.

It it still won''t work, then I suggest to contact your host and ask them to provide you with the right info and double check them .

When I created the database, there was nowhere something where I could grant the user fulll access and permission...

I checked out the server name and I isn't localhost (99% of the Servers have localhost, and I've got one where it isn't... -.- ). But it changes nothing, it does still not connect... I'll now try it on another account on the same server, and if it still doesn't work, I'll contact the host...

Also make sure to use the full name for both the database user and the database:
