Btw I don't think making polls is such a good idea, after all people can just change their IPs and vote again and again for their theme!

They won't count for as much, exactly for that reason.  But, we'll mainly go off people's comments...

Sadly, this is why the real voting/judging basically has to be done by the team.

dang it, i think that keeps me from voting, and I'm a team member! ;)

Me, too. Well, no, I'm not a team member, just a person who tries not to spam, but only post when they really have to say something...

codenaught

nah, let everyone vote as said here

QuoteYour theme will be shown publicly, and people will have the chance to vote for their favorites. This public vote will have little impact, however, and the real judging will be done by the team members themselves.

The vote isn't the deciding factor anyway so I don't see the reason to punish those who haven't discovered SMF as long ago as others and those who don't have as much time to post on here.

The ultimate vote that we can cast is to give a well thought through and properly argumented opinion about a theme.
Those who can't do that, won't be casting a real vote... those that do have something "extra" to add will be making a difference in the eventual outcome of this contest...

[Unknown]

I think even better than a vote is a theme... no theme is too small ;).

Golden_Helmet

Well, i made my very first SMF theme. As i said in the contest e-mail, i based it off the Classic YaBBSE Theme that came with RC2, and all images are the originals from that theme exept for catbg.gif, which i hijacked from one of my IPB themes.

http://dhost.info/clanboards/ [nofollow] That's my forum thats running my theme. I call the theme "Darkness Prevails" because, as you can all see, it's quite a dark theme ;)

Trekkie101

My submission is nearly ready, although ive got all the graphics to do which is a very boring job if you cant make them  ::) Ill manage i suppose.

one little question... i've got a theme that i made a while ago and will modify a little bit for the contest, i've made said theme in 6 different colors, so the only difference between the themes is the style.css file, the boardindex file (for the fader colors) and the buttons of course. now... should i only submit one of the colors of the theme? or all 6 as different themes?? or one theme and screenshots of the other 5 color variations?
i'm also working on a new theme for the contest, i might choose to make that one in different colors too. so, do different colors count as seperate themes? and do i need to send all of the color variations or are screenshots enough?  ???
~ there's nothing wrong with me, this is how I'm supposed to be ~

You are permitted to submit several themes to the contest (but can win only one price). So if I were you I would submit all themes as individual (complete) themes, since by this your chances to win a price can only increase...

P.S. A submission must be a fully functional theme (at least working with rc1) that's why I wrote (complete) theme.

I wouldn't do that...
If you submit them separately, one person will vote for the blue theme... one person will vote for the purple theme... one person will vote for the green theme...
If you submit one theme, you'll get 3 votes on that one theme...

I'm not saying that you shouldn't share all the themes you made!
You can still share them, you can just try to see which one will be the most likely to be voted for and enter that into this contest.

That is your interpretation. You do not necessarily get 3 votes on your one theme.

thanks andrea, i was planning to send them all anyways, i just wasn't sure if i should send them as seperate themes or as one theme with different color options... i guess i'll send them in as 6 complete themes then, as soon as the modifications are finished  ;D

I'm just stating that, strategically, it's better to enter one theme into this contest.
Let me explain... it's kind of like when you create a poll... If you have:
[ ] Yes, because of this
[ ] Yes, because of that
[ ] Yes, because of them
[ ] Yes, because of whatever
[ ] No

Which do you think will get the highest percentage of votes if 50% of the voters that intend to vote vote Yes and 50% of the voters intend to vote No?

It's the same with American elections... The Democrats and the Republicans both try to get just one person in office (except Ralph Nader, but what he's doing just proves my point) because it gives you a higher chance of getting the highest percentage...

Trekkie101

im with Burpee he has the best idea, you may get more votes if you submit one colour.

andrea

That's up to you guys - submit 1 theme if you prefer.

But *submit* a theme  - and don't only make hypothetical discussions here.  ;)
