The article import only imports as it is. Might be possible with SMF 2.0 to convert the html to bbcode I think they do that with the WYWSIG editor.

well, HTML in the articles WILL work, so long as you don't ever open them for editing again...   (i.e. of the 900 that I imported, I only had to edit the HTML out after we re-saved the record.)

and yes...    allowing HTML *IS* insecure... that's one reason that forums use BBC in the first place.

Can't find a way to get a list of recently added articles across all categories and subcategories...

I thought I might get search to do it but no wild card characters and no order function. I can make a simple portal block that does it but is there any way I can create a simple function to use the articles display template to just list the most recent articles?

I don't believe this is correct, on either point.

After importing, SMF articles displays the HTML code as though it were typed into a BBCode field. (i.e. the formatting is visible) Unless you used some alternate means of import-- all I'm seeing is garbled articles.

BBCode isn't necessarily helpful for security, but is easier for users to use than standard HTML entities. However, a simple HTML filter would remove any supposed XSS/javascript vulnerabilities.

Further, as in my case, the only people able to author articles are already admin-level, there should be no added security concerns over having HTML articles.

As mentioned, SMF already allows "basic HTML" in forum posts (See the Posts and Topics setting)

Kindred

well, MY installations of SMF do not allow any HTML...
And at my company, we just recently removed ALL capability for HTML, including even basic HTML ....

And I just realized the difference in imports. I imported directly into the database in a SQL statement merging the former mambo data into the smf database

i try add new article and i get this error:
"You need to enter article text"
This is weird Because I enter text in article.

Is there a way to set the order of the articles? I have a number of articles and would like to put them in a particular order. This would also be a nice feature for categories.

Kindred

nope...   articles are sorted by date, just like posts in the forum

Categories can be moved in the list (use the up/down) links

I can do the same with Simpleportal, just would like to link from the SP block to a list of all articles in reverse date order, regardless of category, similar to the way MyArticles displays but for all users/articles...

I want that users can attach a photo article.
And were able to define where the image will appear in the article.
And the files will be saved in a folder separate Attachments folder of the forum.
