I'd advise first receiving input from the author as to the possible consequences, but if you've a small scale, backed up site i really see no harm in the hack of hack's park shoutbox.

hello i do this but all my definitions on admin panel desapear...and i can.'t save the news definitions!!!!

The settings can be changed directly in PHPMyAdmin in the [prefix]shoutbox_settings table. I noticed that shortly after i made the edit, but everything seems to be working smoothly otherwise. Again, it's not an advisable modification to this script.

I got the Auto installer to work now.

Download the attached file below.
And the Credits still goes to the maker. I just changed some in the package-info.xml to make it compatible with 1.1.10 :)

If you would have read the thread you would have found this.

Awesome mod... just what i was looking for.

I might sound very noob when asking this, thats because I am; but, where do I find the Administration Panel for the shoutbox? It was there automatically after installation now I'm not sure how to get to it myself.

Also, I'm currently using the WMC theme which provides a host of different color schemes for the site. How is it possible to change the color of the title bar depending on the color scheme chosen?

If not possible; how can i change the red to a standard colour like black, or grey?

If you got your own language you have to edit the modification of your language.
You have to add or add and translate and put the string from modifications.english

How can I get the shoutbox on all pages as in the board of the forum? I also tried adding the calendar to it the list and it didn't work. I saw other responses to this question; however, I couldnt understand what to do. Please be a little specific.

Thanks alot in advance.

Are you running a theme other than default? If so you will need to either manually edit the required files or if using SMF 2.0 you can check the option to install the mod into other themes.

Anyone having problems with IE 8.0 see my ealrier post on page 33 for enabling the shout button, also have your users run IE8 in compatibility mode. I do both and the shoutbox works fine for me across FF/IE browsers.

It hasnt been updated for 1.1.10, havig said that Im not aware of any changes in 1.1.10 wich would present a problem to the mod (although I've only been using SMF for a couple of months so I'm no expert). I'm running 2.0rc1.2 so I may be wrong in this but when your installing mods there is an option to emulate previous versions of SMF, in your case you need to change it to 1.1.9 then install the mod. I think you do this via the advanced button found at the bottom of the packages page. (Like I say i'm not running SMF 1 so i cant check where exactly this option is).

Hope that works for you :)

Then upload them again, and it should all be working.

Last night I changed my SMF to 1.1.10 and tried to install package (Shoutbox_2[1].0.zip), then error has ocurred

"The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF. "

I will try manual installation :'(

I am receiving a strange error with my shoutbox. I went in and edited it with my template files based one the manual online, and I can see it. But, I can't post in it.

When I tried to open the moderation panel or the chat in pop-up, it gave me this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in sc2gateway.com/forum/Sources/Shoutbox.php on line 132

Well I went into line 132 and here is what I see:

'poster' => ($cmd_me ? '' : '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=profile;u=' . $s['ID_MEMBER'] . '" target="_blank"' . ' <span style="color:' . $shoutbox['timeColor'] . '">[' . (!empty($s['colorName']) ? ' style="color:' . $s['colorName'] . '"' : '') . '>' . $s['realName'] . '</a>') . </span>:',

Is there something missing or wrong with this line?

Hello.

I've a doubt. I've installed a mod that moves the recent posts/topics to the top pf the forum and I don't see the shoutbox. Do I need to place the recent post/topics in the bottom?

Tks.

Btw, I use the 1.1.10 version and I'm installing the mod with trick, I tell the forum to emulate a 1.1.9 version. Go to your "Browse Packages" and type this:   your_url/packages/?sa=browse;version_emulate=1.1.9
