Upgraded bridge, can't log into Mambo admin

Last night I upgraded the bridge as per the quick install instructions detailed in the FAQ at the top of this forum. Everything went reasonably smoothly, and as i was logged into the Mambo admin panel the whole time, I didn't notice any problems.

This morning I went to activate my first 3 users. This worked fine in SMF, but when I went to login to Mambo to check they had been added there too, my admin username/pw no longer worked. Also, despite the fact that the integrated login on my site still shows me logged in, the edit functions etc associated with admin priveledges have disappeared from my news items.

I then took a look in phpMyadmin, after looking through some posts here--I'm not 100% sure ,but I think I had my databases integrated previously, whereas now I have _smf and _mos tables.

Essentially, I'm sure I've done something stupid/neglected to do something stupid which has caused my logins to become splintered. I apologise for the rather ignorant nature of my post, but this is all fairly new territory for me, and I'm learning as I go along. I would very much appreciate any help anyone can offer to get this problem sorted out as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Edit: forgot url: hxxp:www.midantrimanimalsanctuary.org [nonactive]

If you need any other info, I'll supply whatever is needed.

Well, the tables for smf should be smf_ and the tables for mambo should be mos_... smf and mos do not share tables, at all...

It looks like your register link is pointing to SMF's registration instead of the bridge one.  I've noticed that on a few of the sites with 3.01 - I'm not sure the part that's supposed to fix that link is working correctly.  Same thinf if you follow that login link.  But, if you login from the front page, there, it should log you in to both.

I'd recommend deleting your site's cookie and try logging in again from the front page.  I'm guessing you accidently logged in at the incorrect spot (or attempted to) and it has you logged in to SMF but not Mambo.

kindred: Yeah, I was getting mixed up with something else there.

chadness: Forgive my stupidity: Do you mean cookie in my browser, or is this something on my server? If it's the latter, where would I find it?

chadness

The one in your browser.  It will be in your temporary internet files.  Depending on your O/S, it can be a little tricky to get to.  In Windows XP, they are normally located in c:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

[your username] is the name you log in to windows with.

Look for the file that is named Cookie:[your username]@[your web site address]

Now, if you can't see the Local Settings folder, you may need to go in to Tools->Folder Options, click on the view tab, and put a check next to "Display the contents of system folder".  Also, on that same tab, make sure you have Hidden Files and Folders set to "Show hidden files and folders".

In other versions of windows they're located in other spaces.  For instance I think Windows 95 and 98 the temporary internet files were in the Windows directory.

Good luck!

I was afraid that was what you meant. I've deleted the cookie, tried logging in using several different browsers on two different computers. This is really a problem, I can't get into mambo to do anything with my website. If anyone can offer any help whatsoever to get me logging into Mambo, i would be eternally grateful.

Oh, for what it's worth, the error I get when I try to login to Mambo is:

Incorrect Username, Password, or Access Level. Please try again.

did you
1) Use the exact same username as your admin in SMF and Mambo?
2) Use the exact same password for your admin account in both SMF and Mambo?

If 1 is no, then go into the tables with phpAdmin and change either SMF or Mambo to be the same username

if 1 is yes and 2 is no, then click on the"forgot password" link.  This should reset your password to a random new one, which will be synced.

if 1 and 2 are both yes... I have no idea at this point.

OK, step one is to get a user you can log in to both.  Perhaps fix the registration link (check other threads for the edit you need to do to the index.english.php file) and register a new user.  Then, go directly to your database (sounds like you have phpmyadmin), open the mos_users table, and put in the record for that user "superadministrator" in the usertype column.  That user will now be a superadministrator, and you should be able to reset your password of your other account.
