Show two different ads in one place, on page refresh the ad will change.

Re-read Bigguy's post. He was telling you how to do it thru the ad mod. Not asking you if that's what you wanted...  ;)

Thank You for pointing that out...Yahmez

Can any one tell me how to correct the fact that I have my ads listed twice...

Thanks

Hi there !

Good question, I search for myself and wait for Ad management mod updated for SMF 2 RC2.
But if you search "Smf adsystem" you find this threas with exact the same question: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=89449.0

They use external software and put them in the theme per hand.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply.  I'm sure someone will make it ready for version 2.0 RC2 when RC2 has been officially released and not a beta version anymore.  I semi understand why it isn't out yet: Why would anyone want to write software or a module for a beta version if they would maybe need to rewrite it for the official release? On the other hand, I am a nana when it comes to programming/php so wouldn't know how to fix it myself.

It would be nice though to have some indication as when it would come out...(the smf version 2 official release and this module)... At least there are guys/or girls clever enough to write stuff like this. Wish I had this knowledge.

Guess we would just need to wait!!

Arantor

RC2 has been officially released, and was released 2 days before c23_Mike's post, on November 9th.

Btw, RC2 is a 'release candidate', and I note this mod worked on the previous 'release candidates', which are basically advanced betas.

SMF 2 Final will be out when it's done, this mod will probably be updated if/when the author has time.

Hi Arantor,

I understand what your saying.  I just meant that because RC2 is still in development stage, thats why this mod hasn't been updated yet.  It would be nice to have this mod ready, but I understand that these developers have a lot on their hands and that this particular mod may not be on top of their list.

I take my hat off for these developers for the work they are doing!!!
Thanks Guys

RC2 isn't in development. It's been released. Any next version will almost certainly be RC3.

Just as RC1 was a release candidate, RC2 is in exactly the same position. RC2 Charter Preview was a developmental build. RC2 Public isn't, as such.

This mod was released by a former team member, it isn't maintained by the SMF team itself.

mseraphim

there is a note on the download page http://download.simplemachines.org/ that says: "Note: As this is in development, we do not recommend running SMF 2.0 RC2 on a production site."

Arantor

That's been there for every version of 2.0 as far as I know. My point is, the previous version or so of 2.0, 2.0 RC1-1 or 2.0 RC1.2 was supported by this mod without waiting for 2.0 final.

If/when this mod is updated it will likely be before 2.0 final which is likely to be a little while.

Thanks.

I see that you have quite a few modules developed!!  They look very useful.

Will be making use of them in my forum.

Thanks again!!

The mod is compatible with the RC2, but not compatible with Curve Theme. If you install it and make changes in Core Theme it will work.
I have installed, and then make some changes to Curve theme, and ads are working, but not in all positions. check here www.clublgmobile.com/foro/ [nofollow]

Would it be fair comment for me to say that this mod is all but essential ?? Maybe future SMF versions could have some type of advert system as default ?

Arantor

It is not essential. There are many forums that do not have any need, nor want, for adverts. Speaking personally, I cannot ever see this mod, or something like it, becoming a core feature, and personally I wouldn't want it as such anyway.

Many thanks for the info.

Please let us know, what you changed to make it compatible
with the new standard curve theme.

Please post your modifications, so we can use it.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards, Stefan.
P.S: I don´t see any ads between postings...
Did you also get this to work in your forum ?
Many thanks.

Times like this I wish SMF used a plugin system with hooks as opposed to the mod system they do use. Would mean there was more chance that things like this would still work even if SMF overhaul the main theme.

Would also limit the rest of the customisation potential (unless you make every single thing you could ever possibly want to customise have a hook, which pretty much means every possible tag on the page would need a hook) as well as inhibit performance; it has been discussed numerous times.

In this particular case, even if we did use a hook theme, the mod author would still really need to check it over before saying it's compatible, given the level of changes from 2.0 RC1.2 to 2.0 RC2.

Just annoying as this is probably the most useful mod I have come across and used. Going from the fact he has put both his domain, forum database and rights to this mod up for sale I'm not sure he is going to update it for RC2 or not. Guess if he, or no other kind soul, has done it within 10 days I may take a look at doing it myself since I will have a week off.

Arantor

Only the author will be able to update the official mod.

I did look at taking it over but I realised I just didn't have time to update and support this mod :(

But if I am able to make it work with Curves I can email the mod author with the changes and send my modified copy to people if they request it yes?

Arantor

If you make it work with Curve, you can email the mod author. Anything further depends on what they say.

Please keep us all informed of any progress with this mod. This and the tags mod are the main reasons i wont upgrade straight away.

Is there a tutorial on this site which details haw to place adverts into the various parts of the forum ? I have managed to put my adsense ads on every page using the index.template.php but I would like to be able to place them after every post too.
