Ok, I am trying to upgrade my forum to the 2.0 this is the screen shot of where I am at now (I had to take 2 screen shots to show everything that I am seeing):

I have all of this information, and have put it all in, but when I click connect or continue it just refreshes that page???  Can someone please help!  Thanks in advance!

Also, I can make those pics bigger if they need to be bigger for everyone to see them better.  Thanks again!

How's this

HollowbeadRanch

Forgot to add that the forum address for this is www.GoatFarmCentral.com  I don't know if that makes a difference or not  :-\

have you typed all details even your forum admin details at the bottom
your site isn't working at mo

HollowbeadRanch

Yes, I filled in all the fields and everything, when I click continue or connect it just refreshes the page and looks exactly like you see it now.  The site isn't working right now because of the upgrade... this is why I am trying to figure out what is going wrong with this submission??

The second screenshot is asking for FTP login info, not that which you use for the forum itself.

The second (lower) fields is for your forum login info.
PM at your own risk, some I answer, if they are interesting, some I ignore.

right if you wanted to pm me with the details i could give this a go for you i helped another member yesterday and he was well pleased

HollowbeadRanch

yes, that is what I have been putting in.  I even had my Host provider look at this to make sure I was putting in the right information?  It isn't giving me an error message just refreshing the page.  Earlier when I put in the wrong FTP install path it gave me an error code in red.  Now I don't get any error codes with the information I have put in, it just refreshes the page and doesn't go any further??

At the listed url I am getting a 500 internal server error when trying to access the site root. Can you please post a link to a phpinfo file.

What is a phpinfo() file?

I thought that I uploaded what you are talking about to my server, but now I don't know how to find the link to it.  I have no clue how any of this works and am still learning alot...  Sorry, I know this is like you talking to a brick wall... any further advice?

Tyrsson

The file should ideally be in the root of your hosting space. Can you connect via ftp and find the location of the file?

hey, when I clicked where it says:

"The upgrader can fix any issues with file permissions to make upgrading as simple as possible. Simply enter your connection information below or alternatively click here for a list of files which need to be changed."

when I click there is says this:

"The following files need to be made writable to continue:  /home1/goatfarm/public_html//Settings_bak.php "

you need to change the permissions on that file locate it via ftp on you server right click it and choose chmod or permissions and type in 777

Tyrsson

With the before listed 500 internal I would suggest using 755.

thanks couldn't remember the other number thanks also i think the 500 error is because upgrade.php is still present on the server

Tyrsson

upgrade.php should not cause a 500. It would cause a notice to be displayed to the admin user upon login but should not throw an error. In this case I would suppose the 500 is due to overly lenient permissions being set during the attempt to upgrade (but that is just a guess).

whenever you don't need a install or repair_settings or upgrade.php, I would either make another folder and move them there, or rename them. That should be more secure...

i just delete them as unless you put them in a password protected directory the public can still access the file
