Email me when someone posts - is it possible?

I run a small forum for a club.  There are so few members, I want to offer the option for people, if they'd like, to be able to receive an email every time someone posts anything to the forum (example:  New topic, reply to topic, etc.).

Our site is kind of a "help" site also, so being able to hop on and respond right away would be nice.  I set up an RSS feed to email me, however, the RSS to Email software I use only digests once a day.

Is this possible with the regular software, or is there a mod available?

Thanks in advance,

Chas Large

The notify button at the bottom of a topic will generate an e-mail if a reply to that topic is posted. This can be used to turn ON or OFF notifications for that topic on a per user basis rather than sending out notifications for all boards. Use the Newsletter feature for that.

You may need to adjust your notifications settings within your profile too.

Yeah, I'm more talking about - I'd like to receive an email, any time anyone posts to my site.  I

- When someone creates a new topic..   I want an email

- When someone responds to someones post, regardless if I was even involved in the discussion...  I want an email

Basically, I'd like an email every time there is any activity on my forum.  We don't get that much, so I'd like the option - and it'd be cool to offer it to everyone who would like to participate.

I'm imagining a "Sign up to receive activity emails"  - maybe there could be levels
- Check this box to receive an email alert when a new topic is created
- Check this box to receive an email whenever anyone responds to a thread

Make sense?    it seems like it should already be built in, i mean, without having to into every single thread and check that I want to subscribe to replies.

I think the reason why it's not built in is that it would generate a huge amount of traffic even for a small forum. This could cause bandwidth problems. It's maybe an Idea for a mod but at the moment it's a user preference to be notified by e-mail about individual topics.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to go that route for now.  I did update my settings, so any topic i participate in, I'll get all the responses, that should do it.  Thanks again.
