I want to ask.

I have change my chat folder permission to 755, but I can't found my shoutbox folder. I also change my index.php permission to 755.

What's wrong?

For mod related questions it is best to ask the mod author. You can find a link to a topic for the mod or a support board on the mod's page in the Mod Site.

OK.  I am using my file manager on hosting company.  I see the folders "chat" and "snout box"  I right click the folders and I dont see this CHMOD you guys speak of.  Could I find out exactly where I would go?

You can get the FTP details from their and use a FTP client, such as filezilla, that makes things much easier, no need to be logging into your hosts site all the time then

where can I get this information at?

Sabre™

Fliezilla.
And the information you need is located in your hosts panel.. ftp info etc..
Do NOT give admin and/or ftp details to just anybody, see if they are trust worthy first!!  Do your homework ;)

HusH-

OK I have downloaded this.  I have my ftp information, now what.  Sorry I am new to this.  Please work with me.

Sabre™

No problem buddy, but I'll leave you to john, as I use a different client and dont know the layout for filezilla.
Usually its a matter of adding your host username and password details, and also the address. But it may differ with filezilla...
Good luck :)

Thanks for helping Sabre :)

Anywho

The FTP, ok If your going to just use this once, I would just use quick connect, otherwise, I would set it up to remember your user and pass for you, for quick access.

Fill in the dialog in filezilla to connect, once your connected, navigate your way to public_html, go inside their.
Now you should see your SMF installation, also the shoutbox and chat directories, to change the permissions (CDMOD) simply right click on the directory and click permissions, then change the numbers to 0755, dont worry about clicking all  the above, just type the numbers.
recurse option, use it,all sub files and directories.
Do that to both chat and shoutbox, reply back after :)
