I noticed another thread about Drupal that smf cannot create an "official" bridge due to a GPL license issue.

What exactly is the issue?

Basically, GPL sucks.

Specifically - GPL considers itself viral. Anything that shares code or data structures with GPL needs to be GPL or at least GPL-Compatible. (or have an exemption granted by the owners of the GPL code)

SMF has a proprietary license and is not GPL-Compatible.
