Please let this happen very soon! SMF has no fully functional shoutbox which is a real shame! Someone just has just pick up this mod and fix the bugs with some minor improvements. We just want a stable shoutbox on our SMF forum!

A forum with shoutbox is the best way to promote interactivity.

bro, people have been using this shoutbox for 2 years and suddenly dropping support is bad. all we need is someone to take over the mod and just provide support.

no thats not what i meant.  i never dragged the smf team into this.  i just want some mod author to take over this mod and provide support. as you are a team manager, i request you to help the users of "smfpacksshoutbox" in this regard.

I am the PM of the TEAM. I have no control or even influence over individual mod authors.
With a few exceptions, mods are created by individuals not related to the team... and even when the author is a team members, the mods are not related to his/her team duties.

Since some time now, a shoutbox is crucial for any forum software. Sadly, it seems that the SMF team disagrees. Why not put this mod up on the forum notice board (or something likewise) for adoption? More mod developers will then get to know that this mod needs a new owner. Interactivity via the forum software is becoming more and more facebook-like (the chat bar feature, anyone?). And no, it makes no sense to use FB instead of SMF, as FB is basically an open link to the entire world, and i would like to restrict my virtual world, thank you.

I installed this mod on a test forum and it worked great, installed in on the live forum and this is what I get at the top of the forum:

look int your modifications.english.php and make sure that the ?> is at the end of the file and not accidentally further up

Sorry but that isn't the way to go, you can't just take anyone mod because it's outdated, mods have licences and original authors and that is something that can't be bypassed.

I've been running this shoutbox/chat for the past month or so and it's definitely cool.  Been through all the fixes on the SMFPacks site, which fixed a lot of the little stuff.  But the big problem with this mod is Internet Explorer (no problem with FF or chrome).  It seems to slow the whole forum down for everyone using IE.  And if you're behind a firewall, forget it.  So while I would love to be able to use this shoutbox, it just isn't really usable.

It really is too bad there's nobody to pick it back up.  This design has really good potential.

+5 on a shoutbox becoming part of the core.

It is a shame that this shoutbox is no longer supported. A shoutbox is one of the few mods that I would be willing to pay for and a shoutbox is a great way for members to communicate and pass on ideas and concepts.

Btw please don't ask for a shoutbox into core, that isn't going to happen, that isn't required for almost all the forums.

shoutbox random moderated chat was the best thing i had in my forum lol. people just couldnt get enough of it. such a loss. fb type chat is just as annoying and intrusive.

Is it possible to insert images in the shoutbox by a regular user? For example if someone wants to display a small image while chatting, it appears that BBC or HTML coding doesn't work.
