.... is there some way of getting that one file updated without running through everything again?

Reuploading profile.template.php should do the trick. If you want the mod installed open the *.mod file, see what changes need to be made and apply them manually.

Yes, it's the mod author's responsibility to keep his or her mod(s) current.

Thanks Dan, I went over to the Skype author's thread and asked the same question. See what he says.  Again, great mod guys, keep it up, am looking forward to when 1.1 goes 'live' for the rest of us.

;)

The mod author is John Slater, I know him quite well, but we have had our turn of arguments latley. Hopefully all things are settled and I will try to get in touch with him.

;D  I LOVE SMF!!!  Great googly moogly, I've run xmB on two boards for about two years, they are really stale and not very open with their users, not to bash them, they have a great BB product.  Then I've run phpBB for about a year on another three boards, and find them to be completely and totally antagonistic to their own users, and constantly require mods to keep up with changes to their product.  At last count, I had 67 mods to my phpBB boards, all running the same mods with just variations for templates, most of those mods were to correct issues in previous releases.

SMF IS JUST FRIGGIN GREAT!  Yes, wrong place for an advert, but this sh$t smells so purty, I'd wear it along with my fur lined jock strap and my pink tutu... 8)

For your pleasure and enjoyment, if you happen to have the "FasterParsecode" mod installed.

I recently did the automatic 1.0.4 patch via the admin section of my site. It went without a hitch, until Father's Day when I got a boardindex.php error message at login telling me that I needed to fix the database, because it was version 1.0 and not 1.0.4, despite the fact that I had successfully installed the 1.0.4 patch the day after it came out. The error (sorry I did not save it) also told me that I needed to install the full 1.0.4, then run upgrade.php.

I went ahead and did this, and reinstalled all the code changes and mod's I had done to the site.

[PS - The board runs great now]

I then went over the error_log and discovered that on May 23, May 31, and June 16, there were numerous attempts to rewrite a couple of lines of the Security.php file that was Chmod to 777. I have since Chmod the Security.php file to 755. Is it OK to Chmod the Security.php file to 755. Also, I will be happy to send the error_log file that is in binary to one or more of the 'official'  SMF developers/writers for analysis. Just contact me via Email.

To rewrite it?  You may wish to contact your host - even if it is 777, they have to be able to GET TO IT first.

Why chmod 777 is NOT a security risk

Just thought I would pass on the information, since it falls into the "you never know" category regarding security, programming, and development.

I am also well aware of the 'fact' that there are some nefarious, and less than reputable computer consultants who contract to some of the biggie server provider and routing firms, who also engage in hacking/cracking practices on a routine basis. The server and routing companies I have dealt with regarding this 'serious' security breach issue, do not apper to be the least bit wise to what these individuals are doing, and in a large majority of cases deny that this problem is going on, of course allowing the hacking/cracking perpetrators to continue doing what they are doing without anyone being the wiser.

Sorry I even bothered to bring the issue up. Just trying find ways to close the gaps and holes.

My upgrade to 1.04 was fairly easy. I hadnt to download the package manually and then chmod some folders that werent at the right settings to get the package to install tho  >:( . Cant wait for 1.1 tho! :-D
