What SMF version?

Check the manual install options for your SMF version

Hi,

i tried adding all the code as required here:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=parse

however i couldn't find much of the code required to have an addition put on, after a long long time searching through the files...i triple checked that i was checking in the right files...any ideas?

vbgamer45

For custom themes it will be different but you should be able to find similar areas of code to enter into.

The 1st time I used the one at the bottom.

So, now I used the zip at the top and look what it says now--
I don't have a clue what to do.

Here's what it says:

Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

Thanks for the link, but I am still confused.

I don't know what to do.  I have very limited technical skills.

I only have 4 mods installed and one won't allow me to uninstall it (comic avatar)-- so maybe that is the problem with the Ad Management Mod?

Jennifer P Guman

I had installed ad management and decided to remove it. For some reason when it was removed, the link stayed at the bottom of the page.  Ad management was still listed on my sidebar for admin (even though it wasn't listed anymore under packages and modifications where it has options for deleting and installing). If I click on it, though, it takes me to an error page.

I signed out, signed back in, reinstalled ad management (because it was STILL there, the links that didn't work), and now I have two links at the bottom of the page, and when I put ads up now, I get two...everything is duplicated. I have two ad management mods installed, even though only one is listed. Two ads show up in each spot, two links at the bottom of the page, and if I delete/uninstall it, one still remains. When I click on ad management after removing the mod (because it still remains on the sidebar) I get an error page, so in order to use an ad mod, I have to have it in twice, and everything show up twice, two credit links at the bottom, etc.

My site is http://girl-talk-forum.com [nofollow]...the two 468 ads are still on top (even though I only add it in once, everything is duplicated)

Is there any way to fix this?

Jennifer P Guman

This mod has a lot of bugs! Your links are on the bottom of my site in duplicate even though I deleted it...what is wrong with this mod??

Hey folks,

I took a couple of hours, but I added the necessary codes in the parse in the right places within my website and moved the relevant mod files into the relevant folders. I still have no ad management in my admin menu! I triple checked this version was compatible with my version (1.1.13) but i am at a loss. I took a lot of time to make sure i added the code right ...Can't figure out what else i have to do. I am assuming i have missed a step somewhere .....Any ideas?

Pedro1234

I didnt use package manager by the way, i downloaded the files to my PC and then put them in my website files with my host, does this even make a difference?

Kindred

Pedro,

why did you not use the package manager?

Did you apply *ALL* changes to the code in the existing Sources and Themes files, in addition to adding the new files and adding the db tables? Are you using English? (do note that English utf-8 is different from English). Also note that on 1.1.x, you have to manually add the mod changes into any theme other than the default.
Did you even bother reading any of the previous messages in this thread which already ask and probably answer all of your questions?

Jennifer,
You will probably have to manually uninstall the mod, since you seem to have installed it twice.
When you say you "deleted: it, did you actually UNINSTALL first or did you just click "delete"? (because delete does not remove the mod, it just deletes the mod file from the package directory)

KIndred, I clicked uninstall, then delete, and under configuration it was still listed, and the links were still at the bottom.

I thought I did something wrong, so I reinstalled it, and suddenly I had two of everything. I uninstalled it, and deleted it a second time (I thought that would make it all go) and now it's still listed under configuration (if I click it I'm redirected to an error page) and I have a bunch of links at the bottom, but it's not listed under downoaded packages anymore.

How do I manually uninstall...in the cpanel? Do I call the host? Can I do it from the site?

Kindred

you will have to manually edit the files to remove the code...

go to the mod download page, select your version of SMF where it says, Manual Install Instructions for SMF and click "parse".

Then do those instructions in reverse (i.e. if it says, "Add", then look for that code and remove it. If it says "replace", then look for that code and put the original code back)

I just tried this, and the response I get is: Sorry, but this modification does not appear to be compatible with the selected version.

even though 1.1.13 is listed as compatible, so it won't even give me instructions.

Unfortunately, at this time, I don't have the bandwidth to do the edits for you. :( Sorry...

as for the "parse" - make sure that the RADIO button is set to ad_mod_v3.0.1_SMF_v1-1-x.zip, select 1.1.13 in the dropdown and then click parse...   it worked for me just now

Hi kindred,

i didnt use package manager because in the Download Packages tab of my admin, it will not connect to package server for some reason - all the right details are in there, it just wont work - i simply get a blank white page  :-\

You may have struck on the reason....i altered the codes in the 'default' theme not the theme i am using. I didn't know about that with 1.1x, was just following the instructions in the parse step by step (i am new to this!)- i will adjust codes in my custom theme files instead as see if it works.....as far as adding database tables, i dont think i did that actually, i just went through the parse and did the FILE EDITS and FILE OPERATIONS and thought that was all i had to do (sorry once again, very new to this!)

Am using English...not English-utf8

i did a search of the topic here but couldnt find the relevant stuff sorry..
