Hey,

I know some other forums let you do this, but unfortunately SMF doesn't

How can u do it so you can just copy paste the picture. Like copy it from 1 website, go to create new topic and paste it.

and then the picture will be pasted.. Instead of Copy pasting the url.

Any clue?

there is no way to copy and paste an image, unless you are copying the bbc code or a link to where the image is stored. almost all forums i know of work in this same way.

Bigguy

If you use the wysiwyg editor in SMF 2.0 you can copy and paste images.

desibees

well this is what i meant. Say there is a post with like 1000 words and with like.... 100 pictures every 10 words.
Now if you just copy paste the whole thing (pictures will come with it) - thats what i want
Otherwise, you'll have to copy 10 words, then picture, then 10 words, then picture... you know what i mean xD

I tried it before, i think on friend's vbulletin and they do allow that.

i couldnt find any mod for that.. thingy.  is it built in? give details please? and what exactly does it do or what is it for?

Edit: im guessing its built in. In Manage Posts and Topics, it says Disable WYSIWYG editor. and it is NOT checked... so why isnt "what you see is what you get" working?

The wysiwyg editor is built in to SMF 2.0 and can be enabled by going to your profile and clicking on look and layout and then put a check next to:

Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default.

There is an option in the admin panel under the post setting to disable the wysiwyg editor so make sure that is not checked and you should be good to go.

Configuration--->Themes & Layout--->Member Options. Pick your theme and then click on "Change current options for all members using this theme" You will see it on the list.

Illori

but dont you need the image hosted somewhere even with the WYSIWYG editor?

desibees

that image will be hosted from where u copy paste it from.

Illori

that would be the same as using img tags to post the image then.

Bigguy

I just copy and pasted a pic from facebook into the wysiwyg editor. I don't think it needs to be hosted anywhere it just goes off the url from where it gets the image

desibees beat me to it.

@ illori: Pretty much

Illori

i thought at first the person meant creating a document in word for example with an image hosted on the users pc, and copy/pasting that into the forum that will not work. the image has to be hosted somewhere first so that it can appear on the internet.

WYSIWYG is better for copy pasting off other forums :P Less work

Topic marked as solved.

It has to be hosted somewhere otherwise the ulr would not find it. As you said you cut and pasted from facebook well that's were it is hosted
Never argue with an Idiot like myself, they just drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Bigguy

What i meant by that was at a file sharing site or something.

That makes more sense, thanks for clarifying.
