Now as some may have seen in previous posts I have alot of trouble lately with errors from mods etc I have allso mentioned that he who helps me with my webpage (a clan member) is not available, cus hes wife is having the baby :)

Therefore I was wondering, how do I manually uninstall mods? Do I just simply login FTP and delete the mods? For example /sources/Aeva-admin.php do I just right click on it and press delete? and in
/packages/ I just delete the ziped mod files?

If not could anyone explain me how to?

Allso I have downloaded a backup of database file: cov_13-Mar-2011.sql if I want to install a backup, is that allso done in CoreFTP? in that case how do I do it?

There is no problem for me to wait until my tech guy comes back, but I allso want to learn this kind of things, so i dont get so helpless in situations like this :)

The most profitable thing for me now is actually to delete all the mods installed, so so i simply only ave the main structure BUT forum and memberslist intact so people dont have to re register AGAIN :P

Thanks

Try going to the Administrative Control Panel, in the Administrative Center, scroll down and Click on the Package icon, that will show you a list of the packages and is also where you can delete the packages. I think that is what you are asking...

K33NY

The thing is

I cant enter controll panel cus my site keeps getting errors :( fatal error blablabla, here go to my site www.cov.no Im sorry if im not allowed to post link but it is so you know what i mean, the try clicking stuff :S the whole pages is in one word f..... and I need to restore it, and the best for me would be to get rid of all mods so the SMF and TP is only there and work as it should, with all boards and topics, memberlist etc still in there

twig/al

I am lost if you can't get to the control panel, thought the forum... As a last resort, you may be able to upload new replacement files for the forum, by ftp, and repair it without losing your information... I did that once and didn't lose anything, but I can't promise that.

K33NY

yes but i was more talking about the mods installed, and how to manually remove them, but keeping forum intact.

example

in FTP i remove a mod causing errors, lets say like aeva does,

can I then enter FTP, delete aeva and the mod is gone? or is there something more to it?

No don't do that, that isn't the mechanism in which mods are installed/uninstalled. Modifications basically pastes lines of codes to php files that are native to SMF so you can't simply remove a mod by removing file(s)/folder(s), that would only break your site. You've got to remove them manually either by using a package parser or since you want to remove all mods on your site, my best suggestion to you would be to wait a couple more hours till SMF 2.0 final is released and use the upgrade package. The upgrade package basically removes all mods while keeping your mySQL DB intact. What this basically means is that everything will stay intact except for your mods. It'd be the perfect option for you right now. That's what I intend to do since I'm having issues with a couple of mods, myself. Read the upgrade manual for more info.

PortaMx is probably the best SMF portal!

No, you can't just delete some files.
MOD's wil also make modifications in the SMF core files and those have to be undone.
Only removing the added files can break up the whole forum.

Download all files via FTP to your local machine
Go to the downloadpage of the specific MOD, at the top right you will see a button to show all modifications.
Follow these modifications in the reverse way. So, when it says ADD you will remove the specific code.
When it say replace you will replace the bottom code by the top code

Best thing is to make a copy of the side on your local machine so you can test it before going live with it again.

Always make a complete backup before making edits.
Please, don't PM me for support unless invited.
If you don't understand this, you will be blacklisted.

Ok thanks I will wait then :) when u say a couple of hours is that like in today couple of hours or days couple of hours? :P

It's unfortunate that we are now in June and there weren't any asteroids (the real/human Sinan says that this is actually fortunate) but we still haven't released SMF 2.0 final. I can understand your frustration. I apologize.

Although we had started the release process, we had to delay things a little bit more due to an unpleasant last minute surprise. We were notified that one of the important but not-so-popular features of SMF 2.0 wasn't working as expected. It requires fixing before we can stick the "final" label on this thing.

As soon as we deal with this last minute surprise, we will be releasing SMF 2.0 final and it's not as far as weeks, months, years from now but "these days". Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Thanks :)

btw there wasnt any parser for 2.0 RC5 will RC¤ Parser work? if i decide to use it?

Most likely, yes since it's simply fetching the code from the package.

PortaMx is probably the best SMF portal!

There is actually a package parser built in the mod site here, just select the version of the mod you have installed, and the version of SMF you are running, and see the manual install instructions. For uninstallation of mods, you simply reverse the installation instructions ;)

How you can help SMF

Dazer77

I have a big problem. I installed a mod "than you matic" and my forum started giving errors. I've manually removed all files from my server (I know it was a mistake) because I could not uninstall automatically.

But the problem is not yet disappeared from my forum, still seem to be installed. Although it has not features.

Now whenever I try to see the profile of someone I do not. Gives the following error:
Fatal error: Can not redeclare template_profile_thank_you_post_modify () (previously declared in / home / slaswo / public_html / forum / Sources / Load.php (2212): eval () 'd code: 3061) in / home / slaswo / public_html / forum / Sources / Load.php (2212): eval () 'd code on line 3098

is a complex case. If anyone can help I would appreciate greatly.
