Ok for those who are getting started below is a pack of 10 quizzes I have just exported.

Just go into the quiz admin and click on 'Quiz_Importer' and browse to the location of the downloaded '10 Pack.xml'

If you follow all the instructions it should be OK.

If you install these and they work OK, you should be able to create and play your own.

Just remember that if you are the admin it will not count your scores. What you might want to do is create a user named 'Quizmaster' or similar and use that ID for the quiz. You'll find that in 'Settings' 'Import Quizzes as User ID'.

I have downloaded davejo quizzes, and his quizzes are working very well.
I will check what a mistake i have made.
Thanks everyone.

Did you by chance used quotes or double quotes in the question or answers?

I have the feeling some of these chars could create problems...

Maybe is this the problem, i have used my own language characters (hungarian). Without hungarian characters works perfect.

emanuele

Here it is...and now I guess you are volunteering to help understand why is not working, right?

I'm very interested in making it work in languages different than English, there is still something to do though. ;)
If you can do few tests I'd be very happy!

hey Emanuel things are looking good, and I appreciate how much time and effort you put into getting this mod to work, my question is, will you be adding a upgrade option for those of us like myself who currently have a working version with over 300 quizzes. it appears when you  install this version, which I have just tried on a test site does not upgrade the old one. It just installs this version and I don't really want to lose all my install quizzes. ? ?

2000+ games available to download

Hmm

Odd times are ahead. On my test forum the menu bar says Quiz. On the main forum SMF Quiz.

How do I get rid of the SMF?

Scratch that. It seemed to change from SMF Quiz to Quiz on its own.

???

emanuele

Quizzes are saved into the database and the mod doesn't delete any database data on uninstall (if you want you have to do it manually), so you should not lose anything (make you can always make a backup just in case ;)).
Additionally the install already takes care of updating the database if needed from version to version, so you should not have problems. ;)

BTW I uploaded another version of the package restoring the behaviour of not delete the quiz_images while uninstall (I removed it a while ago...honestly I don't know why... ::))

That's curious...I see Quiz when on the forum and SMF Quiz when in the admin area.
If this is the problem then you can change:
$txt['SMFQuiz'] = 'SMF Quiz';
in SMFQuizAdmin.english.php.

This info is available in the 'Information Board' which is at the bottom of the 'Home' page for the quiz. It is set at 20 by default, if you want to change this the go to Admin/Forum/Quiz/Settings look for 'InfoBoard Items to Display' and change to whatever you want. There is also a setting for 'Show User Ratings' ensure this is ticked.

NOTE: Some or all of this info will be removed if you use the 'Maintenance' option to 'Clean Information Board Over'

A Quiz "Leaderboard" block for SimplePortal/TinyPortal would be quite kickass... (hint/hint)...

...and is anyone thinking of putting together a quiz depository?

GlitchPC

I'm still using the older version of this mod...and not the new one...yet.

Question, though...regarding disputes.

If a user disputes an incorrect answer...and is, apparently, correct...how does one modify their quiz results to reflect the change?  In other words...a user got one wrong that should have been marked correct.  How do I fix their quiz results to reflect it?

At present the only block I know of, which I'm using on my site, which is 'Newest Quizzes' is as attached. Create a custom php block and insert the text into it.

This has been mentioned but as yet the final details have not been ironed out. Watch this space....

At the moment the only way I know to do this is by editing the database table 'smf_quiz_result'

Look at the image below.

You would need to look at the 'quiz id' number and the 'user id' and then find that info in the table. Once you have done that use the 'Inline Edit' option and change the numbers in the 'correct' and 'incorrect' columns and the click on 'save'. This will then give the correct results.

To find out the 'quiz id' hover the mouse over a quiz title and it will show you.
