To whom it may concern,

I'm having problems Creating New Category. When I hit the tab it take me back to my front page.
I've tried to troubleshoot this issue and it's driving me nuts.

smash-nyc.com
Running 2.0.4 with Blackjack by, Crip theme, TinyPortal and Aeva ~ Auto-Embed Video & Audio.

BTW I disabled all the Mods, used the default Theme (Curve) and still no dice.

Thanks in advance!

What URL does it redirect you to? I only need the index.php bit and onwards, not the full site URL.

(e.g. index.php?action=something;area=something...)

24baed464f

action=admin;area=manageboards;sa=cat;cat=1

Arantor

Well, that's the right URL structure.

Anything in the error log?

24baed464f

action=admin;area=manageboards;sa=cat;cat=1

No error logs

Arantor

Weird, very weird.

I'm not sure off hand where to start tracking down this issue. There should be no reason for it to do that.

I know! I've used SMF Forum before. I might start from scratch (LOL). My forum is almost up, this is the last issue and then I can go live!

BTW I've used Chome and Safari, emptied out the cashes and I have to same problem.

I'm open for any suggestion and thanks in advance.

When I click Create New Category, I get this:
index.php?action=admin;area=manageboards;sa=newcat
Redirected to
index.php?action=admin;area=manageboards
After putting in the name and stuff.

I'm telling you! There's something wrong!!!

I've have uploaded, ran and used SMF for years (trust me)! I have a real issue here!
Thanks for your help anyway, thank you!!!!!!

Arantor

None of us are disputing that you have a real problem. The fact remains that there is something screwy in the code, and I already suggested you should compare the file that drives that part of the admin panel with a master one to check it hasn't been damaged...

I did one better! I backed up the original file and uploaded the one from the full install package!
SAME THING!!!!!!!!
Disabled all the Mod, went back to curve theme and the same thing!!!!!
I've never had a problem with a SMF install, I can do 'em in my sleep!

Anyway thank you your help.

Arantor

OK, so we know it isn't that.

Got an .htaccess file lurking around?

Here you go!

I had a wordpress install before this one.

I'm thinking about starting all over again (Clean install)

Arantor

Delete that file. It contains WordPress redirect rules which may or may not be interfering. Certainly SMF has absolutely no use for them.

Doesn't work! I've been on the chat line with Site Support. Mod the htaccess file and stated to get 403 Errors !!!!!!!!!!!

I think something is wrong and I'm the first person to come across it!!!

Thanks for your help

What have you changed it to now ?

Have you tried it without an htacess file ?

kat

A small hunch...

Do you have full CHOWN ownership of the files on your site?

Is "mod_secruity" enabled? If it is, get it disabled, coz it's CRAP!

Arantor

I didn't say to modify the .htaccess file, I said to remove it.

Guess what Ladies and Gentlemen?
I deleted my whole installation (FTP) and stated from scratch and you know what happen???
The same thing!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted someone to log into my board and see it for themselves but, the Mods around here thought it was me and not the install!
There's a ISSUE with SMF, this never happen before so I suggest you look in to this ASAP!

Thank you

BTW The Verification crap for every post is horrible!!!!

I logged in with the test account you gave me, even though I don't normally do any kind of support by PM, I even admitted and agreed with you that there is a problem and that it isn't you.

There is an issue on your server, that's obvious enough, but the fact that it isn't *everyone* getting it, it's just your server getting is means there isn't an issue with the base SMF code. Which is what I've been saying all along.

When I do give you suggestions you do something different and complain bitterly that it didn't work, so that's it from me, no more help.
