Is this thread the best way to reach you?

In terms of creating categories - are the quiz packs all listed with categories already (In other words, if I create a "music" category; how would I know which pack contains "music" questions)?

The quiz packs are in the categories as per my website quiz. Download the quiz packs first then extract the file and you'll see the seperate packs.

As far as getting me is concerned you can reply to this thread or reply to the thread on my site. Note that I'm in the UK and I get up for work at 04.45 so I'm not normally around until the evening but I do sometimes see and reply to posts during the day.

I am currently working on a website for my Battalion's warfare qualification program and I am interested in a quiz mod to help people study. I tried both downloads and at the point on installing...I get a warning stating it is not recommended for install...any clues?

As I can't edit my post I'll have to do anther one.

We also need to know what version of SMF you are running as well as what the error was. Take a screenshot of the error to post it as an attachment or copy and paste the text into a code box please.

I know that normally I answer questions here, but I have a question about a code error that I'm hoping one of you coders might be able to answer, that's if you read this of course.

The site error is

[05-Jun-2016 05:16:07 Europe/London] PHP Fatal error:  Cannot redeclare GetQuestionsData() (previously declared in //public_html/Sources/SMFQuizAdmin.php:1288) in //public_html/Sources/SMFQuiz.php on line 221

It doesn't happen every day but can happen a couple of times a day.

I'm not asking for a fix just wondering if anyone has seen that type of error before and what basically leads to it.

It's been coded that way - the function is declared in both source files, for some reason, but they're not identical in operation.

Yikes...  That's a no-no... Wonder why I have never seen that before.
Functions in different files should have different names.

I don't know how to contact you but here is my Polish translation

Despite the fact, that this application really gives a lot of joy, it was a pain in the ass for me (I don't know javascript and php) to find out where do you keep still and still untranslated parts. Heh my browser keeps scripts in temp, so I was almost insane when I finally found this script and It's changing didn't worked, not mentioning 1/2 hour break between quizes. Luckily I have my old IE :D

PS
What the hell are orphaned questions?

hello,

Is it possible that the quizzes questions and answers translate to dutch?
you can perhaps share

thank you

Hello all, I tried to install smf_quiz-1.1.1-beta2 to smf_2-1_beta2, it was only possible to install in "emulation mode 2.0".
After installation I've got the following errors as shown in the screen.
Can anyone help or guide how to fix this?

Kindred

this mod will almost definitely NOT work on 2.1 beta (or 2.1 final, when it comes out...  it would require significant recoding)

Besides, you should not be running 2.1 on a live site... and should not be running 2.1 beta 2 at all, since that has all sorts of issues that have been fixed.

Tried this mod with SMF 2.0.14 and PHP 7. All seemed OK until I went to exit a completed quiz and a popup appeared telling me of a parsing error. The quiz was then shown as uncompleted. This had been working fine on PHP 5.5.  Not expecting a fix, but would be nice to carry on using it.

Hi Dave,

So, it's been over a year, and now, I'm *finally* setting this mod up :)

I downloaded the quiz pack from your site and imported *all* the quizzes in. They all came in just fine!

Now - my two remaining questions (and, hopefully, I won't wait a year to implement these!) :)

1. I want to, functionally, run a league; but I don't want random questions. I'd like to choose a quiz - let the group know "hey, this is today's quiz" and have everyone take that same quiz. Am I able to do that?

2. On your *actual* site, I see a BUNCH of really cool quizzes ("One Hit Wonders" "Beat the Intro") - are those also available to be downloaded and brought into the quiz app?

Thanks again!

Macabreo

That's what I was looking for my education forum. Thanks!

Hi Lemur,

The One hit wonders are not part of the package you downloaded because I created those myself and the links are all going back to my site for the music files, there is the matter of DRM associated with them too. If I was the share the files with you I could in theory get in trouble for it.

If you have the time to mess about then it really isn't to hard to do it yourself. If you do go for that type of quiz, that plays music, then you will need an swf player in the public_html section of your site. The one I use is 'player_mp3.swf'. If you want a copy it's attached here. (It's a flash player)

I have added a couple of edited screenshots below to try and help you out, sorry it's not better than that but I'm flying off on holiday tomorrow and have bags to pack etc.

You will see in one screenshot, for the question, I have two folders in a row, you do not have to do this, the only reson I have it that way is because I created a main folder for quiz music, then sub folders for each quiz under that.

Happy creating

Hi Dave,

Totally understand about the questions then -- yes, I know I can build my own (but, I also want to be able to participate in the quizzes; and - I think - using my own creations would be a tad bit unfair) :)

I had thought they might be user-generated quizzes ... like a repository of quizzes submitted by other users.

I did ask this though, as well:

I want to, functionally, run a league; but I don't want random questions. I'd like to choose a quiz - let the group know "hey, this is today's quiz" and have everyone take that same quiz. Am I able to do that?

Hi Lemur

As far a the quiz league is concerned I'm sorry I don't know, I have never used that function or even loooked in to it.
