Gri.. I have to disagree... Honestly, I think the forum should be completely bare to begin with. *ALL* options should be OFF and the admin can then turn ON only the ones that he/she wants to use.

I remember in the SMF 1.05 i use to be able to put the Fast reply option or quick reply option

But how do i do it in the new version of SMF?

What he was saying is that if everything was set to ON by default,
both admin and users can see what features are available
and then choose to turn it off if they dont want it.

Its a waste of everyones time for them
to come here or trawl through every single option on their board
before finding out it already exists...

Now i'm going to have to post a topic for my users
telling them how they can turn ON quick reply...

Set "Use quick reply on topic display" to "Show, on by default"

To change this for all members who register in the future:
Admin -> Current Theme's Settings -> Reset default member specific options (1.0.5) / Admin -> Current Theme -> Reset Options -> Reset default (guest) options for this theme (1.1)

To change it for all current users:
1.0.5 - Admin -> Current Theme's Settings -> Reset member specific options for all members
Check the box next to "Use quick reply on topic display" and set it to "Show, on by default"

1.1 - Admin -> Current Theme -> Reset Options -> Reset all member's current options for this theme
Select "Change" next to "Use quick reply on topic display" and set it to "Show, on by default"

For users and want-a-forum-quick, it would be nice to have many options (Quick Reply & page stat comes into mind) on.  However an admin sensitive to resource usage may prefer all options off.  I don't believe SMF is making a good balance between the two extremes at this moment, if it is possible at all.  Why isn't it possible to have it set at installation?
