i did some more changes, and trying to bring that advert column out under different calls.  i've built two separate instances of WP- one for publishing and one for store off the SMF backbone of the site.  i'm starting to get some moderately heavy traffic, and to the point i've bought a server stack of 20 4x4 servers to handle it.  ought not have to upgrade again for a while.

the new servers go live Sunday morning.

the new servers are set up with 2.0.14 and running php7.0 and have a properly configured SSL set up... is there anything i need to know about SSL's or php7 that may impact?  I've ran the new servers outside production for about a week now, and even uploaded database dumps from the production server.

my plan is to put the production SMF in maintenance mode @ 1150pm Saturday eve, download the db backup, upload the db backup to the new server and change all the paths to the new server(s), then flip the DNS.... hopefully visitors w/ ISP's that haven't propagated yet will see the 'old' production server in maintenance mode, and those that have will have a live forum to enter and post...

can anyone here give me a cursory glance and tell me if there is anything that needs to happen to the site before i put the non-production into production?  now is the time to do it- the football season start Saturday, and I'm about to get ran over.

No, the forum is not full of information. On the contrary, everything is simple and tasteful, advertising is not annoying. Everything is convenient.

thank you, Kuznec.  It's taken me a while to get the thing laid out and working like i wanted/needed it to... the traffic is now much better managed with the server upgrade- it's on a stack of 20 4x4 and a cloud.  it's running php7 and newest stable sql.. i've set up a shoutbox for live game coverage and will have users posting pics from games and video's will be hosted and hung for the community.  it's really taking off- and it's big thanks in part to this community here.

howdy again, folks!!!

i'm looking for some constructive criticism... it's my slow time of year, so anything that needs to be done should be done now.

since last posting here, i moved it to my own server stack and running the back end i want (or think works better).   i've SSL'd, and i've H2 and pushed with it... its pretty quick...

please tell me what you think!  it's been running error free except for some bots/spammers that clean talk catches for me, leaving an error when the door is slammed in their face!

thanks in advance!

if anyone cares to assist it would be appreciated.

there is a caveat to the page this concerns- it is an American college football site and the interest outside of the Sates is nill- with the exception of ex-pats living abroad (of which there are precisely three).  my interest in catering to browsers outside of what google analytics tells me comprises 99+% of my traffic is pretty slim... between Firefox, Chrome, IE10+, and Edge, there are virtually no other desktop users.  mobile users are contained 99% with android and mobile chrome versions, and a handful of iOS users.

right now I've tried to make the page responsive in two basic formats- one 'mobile' and < 1050px or so, and the other desktop @ >1050px.  both scale to screen width and neither scroll side to side... the only thing that does is an advert space and only IF you minimize/adjust the width of a browser AFTER loading the page.  (that i've discovered)

I intend to 'bind' the page at monitors >2k px's tonight if i get a chance.

most of this was done over the Christmas break, and most of it attempting to clean up loose ends existing prior pointed out by others here.  can I solicit some opinions please!  thanks in advance.

I would really appreciate a peer review if anyone has a moment or two... I've tried to take the advice of folks here to make this thing right.  many thanks in advance!

I can't offer anything by way of constructive critique or technical stuff but I do think that your site looks very impressive and about as far from the 'out of the box' SMF theme as is possible :)  Good job.
