Does it maintain an SMF-based forum?

Hello! I will present my projects to people in SMF infrastructure and get suggestions. Let me come to my questions;

* Do you think this forum works?
* Is the forum made with SMF infrastructure popular?
* How should I advertise?
* * Should I add an address section for those who buy or play my games?
* What are your other suggestions?

People come here and post every day. They seem to be able to communicate and exchange thoughts without any major problems.

Less than it used to be; but forums in general are in decline.

Various methods may work, hard to tell without understanding what the forum is about.

What do you mean by 'an address section'? If people buy your games, do you want to be able to talk to them? That's what a forum is for, for people to talk.

Can you tell us a bit more about what you're thinking of doing? We might be able to give you suggestions if you can be a little more detailed. All I know from this so far is that you might want to run a forum and that SMF might work for you. It says nothing of what you want from the forum, what help you might need in doing it and so on.

Hello.

I'm thinking of something like this for my own forum. Those who download or buy the game will encounter a file like this. as /site. In this file, there will be a shortcut called the Official Support Forum. Thanks to this shortcut, people will come to our forum.

The main purpose of my forum will be to present my work. This job is game development. As for my game, it is a 2D platformer.

Other than that, nothing else will be added to the forum.

It sounds like you'd actually want two parts to the site, one to show off the game - possibly something like WordPress - and one part forum for discussing the game with people, bug reports and so on.

SMF can definitely do the latter part for you - last I checked, Wadjet Eye Games had an SMF forum for their members to discuss games, but I haven't been in a while.

As mentioned above, a combination of Wordpress for your front page, with the Smf for the forum part will do the job for you.

I will build the site that way. Thank you.

This also can be done fully with SMF, and a portal.
After all, my "blog" is really just a SMF forum made to be a blog, using TinyPortal, as well as a few other mods and tweaks. The front page can be the blog, using news block, and then go to the forum for the regular topics.

Good luck with your site/forum.

Yes, I know that. I also don't want to hamstring a user whose site will by default be far more of a marketing landing page than a forum and by default would get their SEO crippled with serious penalties when they could... not. (I do this sort of thing for a living at a design agency. I have any number of sites running Laravel that could easily have their front page be managed as you suggest, or I could give the customers WordPress. With a bit of care you can produce an editing experience and outcomes far better than what SMF+portal will currently give you.)

That may be so for some, but I used to use WP for my blog, and I for one really despise WP now.
True, in some regards it is best to use it, but I did want to throw out the idea of SMF+Portal as an option.

If I thought SMF + a portal was the best suggestion for the OP, I would have said so. For many cases it is. For the industry and niche the OP is in, it's really not.
