This is before you get into the debate of "how buggy does a mod have to be to be delisted" because you have things that are working as the author intended, but others see as bugs; things where a theme and a mod don't play nicely together but both are independently fine; where combinations of mods don't play nicely together.

Anything that deviates from some arbitrary definition of expected behaviour is "a bug".

Aren't mods removed if they're no longer supported?
When in Emor, do as the Snamors.

Given that there are mods listed on the mod site that are only compatible with 1.0.x (not even 1.1.x which debuted in 2006), I'd say the answer is no.

Correct.

There are few scenarios that predate me, but I natively agree with the intention/sentiment:
- MOD is completely broken when using the stated compatible SMF versions.
- MOD breaks the forum when using the stated compatible SMF versions.
- Security issues

Obviously it's not a feasible task to accomplish manually so we only take actions on received valid reports, using the appropriate report functionality in the customization page.

Adding no longer supported MODs would just be more work and unfair to those that still function.

Normally, I would agree, but...

Quote from: Steve on June 18, 2024, 07:06:03 AMI can guarantee you he'll say he doesn't provide support for the free version.
That is a red flag. If they want their mod on here (free, of course), then they need to actually support it. If they're not supporting it, ditch it.

Otherwise, everyone would expect the SMF team to provide support, which isn't fair to anyone on the team.

But that's just my (biased) opinion. :)

But then you fall into the same problem as all the other mods - if you make a rule of 'it's not supported therefore it has to go', you rule out the entirety of the backlog.

If you make it so free versions that also have paid versions require support, you end up cutting out the paid mod makers, and while I know full well there are people who would welcome that, *this is not a sustainable idea*.

Paid mods need to exist because if they're suitably discouraged, no-one will bother, and yet more of the folks will just go elsewhere. The lack of premium mod authors isn't a feature of the community, it's a tacit admission that the ecosystem is dying.

@Douglas - let me clarify what I said. If he comes here, he will provide support but if the OP asks at the website where the pro version is he will not provide support for the free version there.

To be fair, I don't think Nibogo was ever that interested in offering support anywhere, and I've seen him give refunds rather than offer support in the past, so, make of that what you will.

Also factor in that, in Nibogo's case, there was also the small matter of NitroBB (take SMF, rebrand it, add all his premium mods, sell it for $100+ later reduced to $70, but it never got the traction), so I'd imagine his enthusiasm for the whole thing is limited.
