It will probably cause trouble. More session chekcs are in, new javascript is changed etc. Since it modifies so many templates, its much to update.

destalk

OK. It's a shame because we can't apply that new security update on pre-RC2 forums.

Hey Bloc. I look forward to the update myself and thank you in advance.

I have a current problem though, that I'd like to see if you can help me with.

I'm using the Simplicity theme, on 1.1RC2 and I guess I did something, somewhere that has caused the following problem:

QuoteTemplate Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /Themes/default/Post.template.php template or language file. Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with a slash (\). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.

You may want to try to refresh this page or use the default theme.

QuoteParse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in .../Themes/default/Post.template.php on line 704

695:                            <div class="post">', $post['message'], '</div>
696:                         </td>
697:                      </tr>';
698:       echo '
699:                   </table>
700:                </td>
701:             </tr>
702:          </table>';
703:    }
Quote704: }
705:
706: // This function displays all the stuff you'd expect to see with a message box, the box, BBC buttons and of course smileys.
707: function template_postbox(&$message)

Note: This only happens when I switch to any other themes, [edit]and try to modify or reply to a thread[endedit]...I've only got Helios [multi], the Classic and Babylon themes. They all used to work fine; I just think I did something somewhere in the code, and I don't know if that error messege is telling me I need to edit or remove something from the post template, in order to use the others.

Think you can help me out on this?

Edit: Here's the link to my site if you'd like to see what I'm doing with it.

bloc

The error is in Post.template in default theme. Try removing the one }..or if doesn't work, upload a fresh Post.template instead.

- danny

The latter, didn't work properly.

I'll get back to you on the second option. Thanks Bloc.  :D

Bloc, I love your theme but I also like the new features version 1.2 offers.  As you can see I've changed a lot on the default simplicty (http://forum.waaromgod.nl/).
I understand you don't have the time to change the theme, but do you think it is a lot of work to change it to work with the new version? (Is there a list of template changes? and are there specific simplicity things I've to pay attention to?) Maybe I can give it a try?
Thanks in advance. You are of great vallue for the SMF community. (for real!)

Bloc, uploading a new post template did it! Thanks.  :D

Thanks. It is simplicity with just some stylesheet editing and different images, and some small modifications and mods.
But hey, maybe I will release it someday as a simplicity_extra ;) (if that's allright with Bloc). First I'd like it to work with 1.2.  ::)

I'll be eagerly awaiting an update of Simplicity to RC2.  This is one of the most unique templates and it would eb a shame if it never got ported.

(I wuv you bloc)!

would be awesome  8)
I've tried, but keeped getting errors all over the place. (I followed all the template changes instructions I found somewhere on the forums, but couldn't find all, and decided it wasn't 'my thing')
I've switched to the default theme. (that's also looking nice, and I never have to worry about upgrades ever again)

Bloc, I know you have a lot of things you are working on, but I wanted to check on any update on Simplicity having the 1.1 RC2 version.  The reason I ask is that I would like to convert to RC2, but there is no way I would have the skills to convert this theme to that.  I'm willing to help pay some of the cost as would a few others running this theme, I'm sure (it's been mentioned in this thread before).  Simplicity is very popular with 45 pages of threads, so it surely is popular enough to warrant upgrading it, unless you are waiting for SMF 1.1 Final.  If so, I can wait for that as well, but I do hope this is going to be updated for it as I would hate to be unable to ever update my forum to the newer versions.

Great job on the TinyPortal releases, though.  It's looking great, although I remain a fan of this theme as your best one ever ;D

destalk

Ditto what Miraenda said. I'd be more than happy to pay my share for this...

This is the best theme of any forum software and it would be a real shame if it fell into disuse.

No need for payment, I update it. Your plea are very convincing. ;)

Its not that I rather not do it, its just a million other things to do..buts my own fault lol  :)

Ok, finally updated Simplicity to 1.1Rc2. It should be working, although a couple of things are not in yet: the quick-edit on display, going to have to work more on that.

Also - if you see any errors let me know. Its quite possible some will show up.

Use the "simplicty11rc2.zip" file here:

Bloc, you're a star. Thank you for taking the time to do this. :)

I'll put this on a test server for a bit and let you know if I spot any issues.

Anything we should look out for other than the 'Quick Edit' display?

destalk

A question about the .css style sheets. Are they dramatically different under RC2, or can they simply be overwritten by the older version .css files?
